SWIM has got sum dope before that is yellowy kinda-wet-but-not-really rocks

leaves a tiny browny residue when burnt; stings the back of the throat when smoked.

does powdering the dope down and washing with acetone cure this? what about a dual solvent? or is shit like this unable to be saved???

well this has been covered here before many times and it always boils down to....... what was it cut with? if you knew (which i realize you dont) it would be quite easy to figure out a way to get the goods out. but you dont know so you will have to try different things until you figure it out. start with a cold anyhdrous acetone wash and see what you end up with, then maybe follow that up with an A/B. dual solvent recrystalization DOES NOT CLEAN ANYTHING. its just a method of recrystalizing. so dont do that and think you are going to get anything more pure.

oops i forgot to say... its not a matter of cut

its a matter of impurity coming through from the pseudo from pill binders... im guessing its a carbohydrate based polymer; PEG or methocell or something like that

or maybe the cook burnt the pseudo/pill mass on the bottom of the beaker when extracting from pill mass; thats my guess as to why its yellow.. like some carbohydrate polymer carmelizing

You might want to investigate in you got it too acidic as well, did you gas per instructions

The yellow tint along with the sting in the throat definitely means too much acid remains in the product. This also means that the manufacture did not wash the post product with acetone. This would further indicate that they are not very experienced at what they do.

Now, if you still want to keep it and not go back and get your money, you need to wash it with dry acetone. Dual solvent recrystallization is indeed for recrystallizing the product after it has already been significantly cleaned. However it can be used with great success to clean post reaction product such as what you have.

When you wash crystallized or powdered solids, many of the impurities remain trapped inside the crystal structure. This is especially true of larger crystal structures. In a dual solvent, the crystals are broken down to liquid and then reformed. When you perform a dual solvent on trashy product, always use an excess of acetone. Probably 3 or 4 times as much for really discolored or stepped on stuff compared to what you would use just to make better crystals from already clean product.
