on this site i read that you can use denatured alcohol in place of methanol is that true or a load of crap. and 2 i cant find lye anywhere is there any specific store names that you can get it at on the east coast

Sure you can use Denatured instead of Methanol.

i didnt see anything at ace but maybe i overlooked. as for the denatured alcohol thing thx i just wasnt to sure if it would work the same way or not... is muriatic acid a product by itself or in something else? having a little trouble finding things but im getting there. still have alot of research to do anyway

Muriatic is actually HCL which is what you need for your A/B reactions. Also, Lowes carrys Red Devil Lye, its with the cleaning products

One other thing, in my humble opinion Denatured alcohol is better to use than methanol. Even methanol still contains a smaal amount of water. The manfactures of heat know just how much water they can get away with putting in the product and do just that. The amount is small but it is still there

Muriatic acid is sold by itself as a concrete cleaner.

found the lye but muratic acid didnt find but i probably passed it up like i did the other

red devil lye is also at bi-mart. I think most solvents have some water in them, which is why i dry all mine.

the only thing im really searching for is a way to clean sudafed been searching the forum but havent came up with much because everyone gets off topic so damn quick...lol it is hilarious sometimes...but also can get very frustrating

sorry guys,,

i honestly thought you all knew how to clean sudafed 30s 60mg per pill...

this also works for amcal sinus tablets,,logicin sinus tablets,,chemists own sinus relief,,and a couple of others i forget...

grind pills up in coffee bean grinder to finest dust..

spoon into beaker and add 1 litre of dry mineral turpentine100% for every 1000 pills,,cover beaker and make airtight..

allow to sit for 24 hours,,though you can get away with 12..

pour off turps through coffee filter and chuck turps over neighbours front lawn,, spoon any pill mass back into beaker..

i use harris brand coffee filters,,10 to 12 cup size,,sealed edges folded over,,but whatever you use,,it must be unbleached natural paper,,test them,,pour a 100ml of isopropyl or methanol through a filter,,then evaporate the liquid,,if there is no film left after evaporating,,the filters are good to use..

so with pill mass in a beaker,,add 1 litre of toluene for every 1000 pills,,,bring to simmering on a hotplate,108c, whilst stirring constantly and scraping the beaker bottom,,sometimes the pill mass will stick to the bottom and burn,,,AVOID this..

hold at 108c for 8 minutes,,then allow to sit for 3 mins so it separates..

using 3 white paper towels fitted into funnel as a filter,,pour off the toluene till no more in beaker..

add another litre of toluene per 1000 to the beaker and place back onto hotplate to begin heating whilst the toluene drains through the filter..

when pill mass in filter is dryish,,spoon it back into the beaker,,throw toluene into neighbours pool...

the paper towels i use are "handee ultra",, made by carter holt harvey tissue australia pty ltd,,,they come in rolls and are 2 ply paper towels x 60 sheets,,22.5cm x 21.5cm,,make sure they are white with no holes,,test them as previously explained...

so you have the toluene in the beaker with all the pill mass,,, and the beaker back on the hotplate heating,,repeat the toluene wash twice more making 3 toluene washes total...

at end of 3rd toluene wash pour all pill mass and toluene into filter/funnel,,,allow toluene to drain through untill pill mass is quite dry..

now get your dry freezing acetone out of the freezer where it has been at least 3 hours,, spoon all pill mass back into beaker,,,add 600ml of acetone to beaker and stir for 3 mins..

allow to sit for 3 mins and pour acetone through paper towel filter in funnel,,

spoon all pill mass back into beaker and repeat acetone wash..pouring used acetone onto neighbours prize roses..

allow pill mass to dry completely after 2nd acetone wash...

using your alcohol of preference,,down here we cant get isopropyl,,so we use a methanol substitute called methylated spirits ,,only use the 94% and above metho from the solvent company "diggers",,if using another brand,,get ten ml and evaporate,,if it leaves a residue or film,,it CAN NOT be used..

add to the pill mass 600ml of metho for every 1000 pills,,stir for 3 mins,,allow to sit for 5 mins,,pour through filter and funnel...

for the metho filtering,,,use 3 coffee filters,,edges folded over so the joined seams dont split,,and placed one inside the other so all 3 filters are fitted together as one,,,and the spout of the funnel is packed with cotton wool balls,,always wet these filters and cotton wool balls when in the funnel with a bit of metho till it just begins to drip out the bottom,,this stops the eph going into the grain of the paper and being lost....

so pour off the 600ml of metho through filters,,,spoon any pill mass back into beaker and SAVE metho...

add 800ml of metho to pill mass,,repeat process,,saving metho...

add 1 litre of metho to pill mass,,repeat process,,,now chuck the pill mass into arsehole neighbours fuel tank,,and save metho...

place all metho into one beaker and evaporate at no more than 50c till the first scale is visible on the metho surface,,, allow to cool,,,then place in freezer for 6 hours...

take out of freezer and drain liquid off revealing fine needle crystals,,thats your ephedrine...

evaporate liquid till scale appears again,,freezer for 6 hours,,drain off liquid and youll see more crystals,,keep repeating this process till no more crystals fall out...

i would then A/B the crystals and go to reducing with ammonia/sodium metal..

but you red/iod boys,,do with the crystals from that point as you would normally
