SWIM hasn't done meth in about a wek now. The reason being is becuase SWIM has done his last HI/P reduction. No more fucking with bullshit. If it's going to be done it'll be done right.



SWIM is going away for a while (week, week and 1/2), and will be leaving on thursday. SWIM will be in a different state, different town, different setting, in the middle of no-where USA.

4 synthetic routes to P2P will be explored, so expect write-ups by the time SWIM comes back. Wish me luck

Phenyl Acetone is KING!

Yes yes yes. Things were rushed and money is tight, so only one route will be explored this week, instead of my aforementioned four.

Currently testing:

chlorination of toluene--->benzyl chloride

benzyl chloride---->benzyl cyanide

Then either:

Trimethyl Aluminum route to P2P from benzyl cyanide, or conversion of the cyanide to phenyl acetic acid. Then acetic anhydride/sodium acetate conversion of PAA to P2P.

Luckily, up here among the banjo-playing hill billies of the mountains, there is internet access, so will keep updating whenever possible. Made some cyanide salts tonight, and it was actually easy as pie.

Swim hasn't had anything to do with p2p.

But remembers picking up a book about fragrances, under Hyacinth it had p2p as a source. Whats the full story? Swims tryed google. Swim dosn't think that nissan coils before 82 were full of p2p, jus incase someone did.

Yup, SWIM has made the benzyl chloride (gassed boiling toluene with chlorine, i.e. not fun, hope to use LiOCl next time). Easy but a pain in the ass. Converted to the cyanide by reflux with H2O soution of cyanide salts. Also very easy. Converted to phenyl acetic acid with 70% H2SO4 solution, very easy. Took some time off on wednesday night to trip on some 5-MeO-AMT which I am sick of (used to eat the shit constantly, haven't done it in almost a year until wednesday), but had a blast anyway. Chilled in the hot tub and shit.

Anyways, next I had to make sodium acetate from vinegar, ad treat with H2SO4 and distill to get GAA cause I don't have any and couldn't afford it right now. Then SWIM melted some sodium bisulfate until it began decomposing into sodium hydroxide and sulfur trioxide gas, which was bubbled through the GAA for acetic anhydride production. That is a big pain in the fucking ass. A really huge one. Gonna experiment with a different method. I am about to distill the acetic anhydride/H2SO4 mixture and see what comes about. Then SWIM is gonna make some damn P2P (finally). Things have been going really slow cause the well broke and we have been having to use bottled water and shit. Just barely got to take a shower today. But I am leaving tomorrow to go back to town, which I'll spend the weekend fabricating write-ups. I also have some pics to post to, so everybody can look forward to those.

It snowed today so the well got filled some, so thats good. Another thing is this higher elevation thing is playing with by boiling points. But it's alright.
