Is it lost???
ok - Followed the post by Wicked_Rain on cleaning the starting material. Rp was dried and powdered, E was good, I took a few tries (started w/ wrong type & had to regroup)but finally crystallized. Could it be that the amounts were too small? 2E:2I:1.8Rp was the ratio. the I was still a bit wet so initially we did not add water. no rxn. Added about 1-2 ml of water and heated. gave off gas, balloon stood up, when removed from heat after about an hur the balloon would instantly deflate and suck in meaning from what ive seen here that the rxn was complete. added colemans and drano(cant find RD around here anywhere)& stirred w/ aluminum. had some reaction and bubbles and floaties. then gassed off - turned white, but no snow flakes. Plse, where have we gone wrong. this is about the 5th time we tried to dream. getting frustrated. know what screwed up before, not know for sure this time. still have the stuff, is there a recovery method. Thanx.

Re: Is it lost???
I don't know, but it sounds like you've got a couple of different methods mixed up there.

Re: Is it lost???
2E:2I:1.8Rp , thats a small batch, ur ratio was good, try cook again,, 3 hrs min time, dh20 it , lye to 13, then np, pull n gass, swim would suggest a bit larger of a batch, say 5 grams e, 5 grams io, and 3 or so of rp, u will see more product in the end as a 2 g batch leaves very little to error with...

Re: Is it lost???
I'm not sure that the size of the Rxn here would of mattered RNK57. Take at look at how they would of done it had they of had say an oz of precursors.
If anything folks write or print-out the directions if you are goingto lead to this below without them. And of course burn the directions when finished.

Plse, where have we gone wrong. If you go back and look at these steps you took compared to the prescribed steps everyone makes here you couldn't help but ask:"where didn't you go wrong?!" http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/violent/sterb308.gif" width="90" height="90 (http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/violent/sterb308.gif" width="90" height="90)

Re: Is it lost???
SWIM told you the last time...
you CANNOT use drano to base with. drano has no place or use in the process that you are doing. so thats the major problem.
cooking only 2 grams is silly when you have no experience, any little problem and poof you have no dope. at least do 5 to 7 grams of E into the flask that way you might get back a little something even if you make several mistakes. dont add aluminum to the lye/water layer its simply not needed. the reason your not getting the dope to migrate from the polar layer to the non-polar layer is simple. you are not getting the ph up where it needs to be because you are using drano and its not basing the polar layer so therefore the shit is still in the polar layer. now the question is can you get it out after adding drano to it. SWIM is not sure about that. when SWIM was told not to use drano he didnt. with whats in drano SWIM would guess that even if you could recover it that it would be some foul nasty shit. its only a gram anyways so throw that shit out and dont attempt again untill you have 100% lye. do you have a car? cant you get in the damn thing and drive untill you find RD lye? try other avenues to obtain lye. its used in soapmaking and various other things natonwide. put some effort into it and quit trying to substitute shit when you dont have a clue what you are doing to start with. i dont mean to sound harsh but this is starting to get annoying. SWIM told you last time DO NOT use drano, what do you do... you use drano anyways. do what it takes to obtain 100% lye. here is an addy that you can buy it from its cheap not watched and no big deal. you can get 5 pounds of the shit, lab grade for 48 bucks. 5 pounds will last forever. you will still have lye when your 80. SWIM would suggest purchasing the ACS grade pellets in 100 gram or 500 gram lots. 100 grams of ACS grade is only 13 dollars, giddyup. http://www.sciencelab.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?
when you get to the home page simply type sodium hydroxide in the query box at the top right of the screen and bam there ya go, order away.
try an internet search yourself even, using googles search engine.
type in lye, see what it brings up. type in sodium hydroxide, see what happens. type in NAOH, see what happens. yes thats right all 3 of those names refer to ONE product, the one that you need that you cant find anywhere on the planet yet SWIM has 4 pages on his screen right now that he accessed in 2o seconds that must have 1,000 places trying to place it in SWIM`s hand. when you ask someone for help and they tell you what to do or not do and you go and do otherwise you can expect to be chastised for it. now get off your ass and find RD lye/sodium hydroxide/NAOH DO NOT FAIL!!! DO NOT accept no for an answer.
SWIM shakes his head in wonderment and awe at situations like this. plainly SWIM told you before do not use drano. did you think SWIM was telling you that cuz he thought it sounded cool? hell no man he told you that cuz the shit wont work. READ SWIM`s LIPS!!!! THE SHIT WONT WORK!!!!! capiche??? comprende??? understand??? now if this is not clear enough let SWIM know and he will get his crayons and draw you a picture.

Re: Is it lost???
Not sure where you are from but around here RD Lye is sold at many grocery stores.
H- V-- carried it until the boys had it yanked off the shelves, in this town anyway.
Swim was in an Eco. Foo. the other day and there on the shelf right in front of her was RD Lye.
Worth checking out.

Re: Is it lost???
squirrel nuts did you add dh20 after reaction? how bout filtering out the rp?
If you did you could heat reaction fluid to reduce volume slightly(evap) add more dh20 then base (13) with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate (pool ph plus) add a shit load of crushed rock salt to help push product into colemans or whatever youre using. study picture mentally then attempt read archives "post reaction workup" or something to that effect.

SWIM is not sure. he dont think its sodium hydroxide. the reason SWIM knows it wont work is he was told by the wizard master it wont. it has aluminum or metal particles in it and some kinda wierd little blue grains as well. SWIM dont remember exactly what he was told but he does remember the important part... "dont fuckin use drano, it wont work and will fuck up your shit" so SWIM never used the shit. and SWIM passed that word on to squirrel and look what happened. the old man that taught SWIM was a chemist for dupont for 20 years and he was never wrong about anything in this game. if he tells SWIM there is pink elephants running down the road he`s not even gonna get up and go look cuz he knows they are there. he says dont use drano SWIM dont use drano, simple as that.
