You could have Sutt suck it out for you.

Assuming it is a nylon fabric backpack there are a few things you can do.

Make up a dilute warm solution of oxyclean (sodium percarbonate) and soak it for an hour or so.

Make up a dilute warm solution of non-chlorine pool shock (sodium persulphate) and soak it for an hour or so.

Spray it with a cold dilute bleach solution and rinse repeat, rinse well, dry and smell again.

Last resort, put it in a box with an ozone generator for 10 minutes. This may damage it slightly.

This list is from gentle to harsh and the harsh treatments may weaken your pack. I'm assuming you've rinsed it several times and handwashed in mild detergent already? If not do that before you do any of these.

If all else fails you could fill it with dirt and raise worms.
