SWIM was doing some cleaning (house), and came across some old phenylpropanolamine pills that also contain povidine. SWIM believes he remembers hearing that this can b used to synth M, is this true? if so, then can SWIM go the RP/I2 route w/ it? ratios? SWIM also seems to remember that PPA can make some other compounds as well, if so what are these other compounds and their respective synths? as for PPA extraction, could SWIM use a method such as video editors straight to bee (base) ?

No. PPA is capable of producing Amphetamine.

There are many procedures out there for the production of methamphetamine from amphetamine so as to add a methyl group to the nitrogen atom.



Its quite overwhelming in procedure for the novice chemist.

If you really are curious I reckon I can put case in point on the fact that it can overhelm the illiterate to technical terms-clandestine-chemist.

Cyanogen bromide is dangerous stuff but potassium, sodium or ammonium cyanate would be a much safer alternative.

PPA can also be used for methylaminorex preparation. The cyanate method is the way to go with that one.

Reduction with HI/P to amphetamine is also definitly worthwhile.

If you can find a formaldehyde source (paraformaldehyde can also be used and is easier to buy) or are knowledgeable enough to make it quickly yourself (hint:dehydrogenation of methanol), and you can toss together some form of hydrogenation (SWIM suggests Al/Hg for easiness and OTC/cheapness, although something like NaBH4 would be quicker and higher yeilding (not to mention cleaner) if you have it), then N-methylation is easy as pie, and can be done in less than a day.

If not much PPA is on hand then fuck it, just use the amph. the way it is. Plus for newbee's/non-chemists it may seem duanting and not worth it, esp. if you only got a couple of grams of amphetamine. SWIM has all of the required chemicals for N-methylation laying around anyway (as do probably most serious organic chemists), and would probably do it just for fun no matter how much amphetamine he had.

Anyways, simply mixing formalin solution with amphetamine freebase in alcohol, and allowing to sit (15-30 minutes) produces appropriate imine. Adding Al foil and running simple Al/Hg reduction yeilds meth.

thanx all. SWIM is gonna do a little more research at Rhodium bfor he procedes, then again he might not; it's only a bit of PPA SWIM found, so it's not a top priority but, thanx for the help.
