Kirby
since swim has succesfully completed his Hi red. he feels that it is time to tackle the blue goo, swim has read a great many articles on the birch and researched his fingers off, he found your version of the synth very interesting, and even caught the write-ups at "wetdreams" before we all got "bounced" by AM for being there to soon, hehehe, " YEAH! THANKS JAM, FOR GETTING US ALL IN TROUBLE" hahahahahaha, anyways, swim is still a tad bit confused about how the O/H stirrer works? the spring through the stopper and such, maybee swim is just pitcureing wrong, maybee if you have a moment you could explain to swim how this aparatus works a little more so he might gain a better understanding? swims a little slow sometimes but he still manages to "get er done" thanks kirb.......

Re: Kirby
hi mate
you get the normal rubber stopper with centre hole
push a thin diameter spike through the stopper between the edge of the hole and the edge of the stopper,,,
now push a red hot 4mm dia rod through the spike hole,,,
this now gives you a 4mm to 5mm hole each side of the large centre hole
the centre hole is for your gas release long pipe/hose
one of the side holes is for your eph insertion tube/pipe/hose
the other hole is for your stirrer rod...
take a 5mm dia wooden rod,,,wrap that tightly with .8mmdia stainless steel tie wire,,, laying each wire next to the other wire as you wrap it around,,,
keep wrapping it for the depth of the rubber stopper,,,
cut the tie wire so only what is wrapped around the rod is there,,
now push the wire wrapped wooden rod through the rubber stopper,,
now untwist the wooden rod slowly...
taking out the wooden rod but leaving the wire in the hole..
so now you have a hole through the rubber stopper that is lined by coiled wire,,
this stops the rubber melting when the stirrer is stirring....
i hope that it explains it..
if you need me to post my birching method again,,say so
good luck

Re: Kirby
Thanks Kirb, for some reason i was picturing the spring going all the way to the bottom, thats where i messed up. I have been compileing a illistration of your discription as i gatherd information, and i got stuck there with the spring, so that helps clear it up. Thanx,-----Green

Re: Kirby
for many years i didnt bother with an O/H stirrer
i weaved a harness from 6mm dia rope similar to a hanging pot plant holder,,id put 4 big marbles in the bottle id use to reduce in,,place the bottle in the harness,,and spin the bottle/harness,,this sent the marbles going everyway and stirred it quite nicely

Re: Kirby
I like the idea of the inclosed system, believe it or not the one reduction that swim did watch was just a guy throwin annie into a bucket with lithum, whole(crushed)pills and stirring untill it turned blue and then dried up he then added his fuel and finished his workup, gassing out the pill gak and so on...so compared to yours it was quite uncivilized, which reminds me of something i wanted to ask you, What is the difference in sodium metal and lithum? how does one obtain sodium metal and does it matter? does sodium result in a better finished product?
oh and i sent you some mail today, thanx, Green

Re: Kirby
well, fining sodium metal was not labor intensive, swim found 100% pure, 4 oz. for $29 US (and an additional $30 for hazmat shipping charge) swim thinks he can live with that. however he has a few options as to what form to recieve it in, blocks, strips, sticks in kerosene, parrafin wax or dry under a nitrogen blanket, any suggestions?

Re: Kirby
buy it in this form,,,,
250 gram cans of sodium metal in
parrafin oil..
if you go into a lab supply business and order it there more than likely to notify the officer attending the chemical diversion desk at your local detectives office,,,
or if your buying it online they will probably go straight to DEA
