BLACK SABBATH!! Hand of Doom, or really ANY Black Sabbath! Or OZZY! Yeah, Metallica is cool, but Black Sabbath was one of their major influences, and it shows.

Some good ol drum and bass definitly! Nothing like some hard core shit like that to jack SWIM up before SWIM gets jacked up.
Some Deisel Boy, AK1200, Dara, DB, and a couple of local DJ's. Maybe some Freaky Flow as well.

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
PAN-fuckin-TERA...When I've got my 3 precursers ready, its time to make a VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER! I know its gonna be badass because my dedication to this fine craft is FAR BEYOND DRIVEN. That mass produced, cheap ice is trendy, but Shooter makes the hand-crafted GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL!
(The intro to Revolution Is My Name is the sound the gas makes as it rises and spreads out of the flask...The round-bottom, long neck, heavy walled, 24/40 joint, 1,000ml flask with a skull and crossbones etched into the glass.)
Sabbath? Electric Funeral would make some nice hydriotic gas.
Korn? 1st LP OK- but you can't ignore the sneaky homosexual content...Peanuts?
Metallica? I feel ya' Jam... Escape is a bad-ass, under-apreciated composition, as is Call of Ktulu. How about Orion, from Puppets (Why did you have to die Cliff?) to set the mood for your journey with the Meth Gods? I'm a member of the "Metallica died after Justice" camp, and although they went from composing complex, ingenious, well structured, deeply moving orchestrations of aggression, to simple, commercial bullshit that John Q. Public can comprehend and relate to, I'm smart enough to know they didn't "sell out", they just reached thier mountains peak (a monumental one) and are rolling down the other side.
Whatever the theme music is...Make it HARDCORE. Wether you're takin' it to the Triple Six Clubhouse where- we've got a plot for you already dug out, and with Project Pat - we keep the dope cookin' where we're from grown men don't take no ass-whoopins, with hardcore rap...Or hardcore country- You're goddamn right there is! Tell me Hank's Country Boy Can Survive aint Hardcore! Oldschool country had some core-shit!
But there aint nothing like that deep, sensuous voice of Al Greene to get her inthe mood to shed that pesky oxygen molecule, and "change into something more comfortable". I'm kidding...Fuck Al Greene!

"Howdy" means "uneducated Southern red-neck" to most instead of an extension of friendship and kindness....Wait! {Swiss' light-bulb flickers and comes on} It came to me in a flash! Anyway, Wicked, who's Cage?
Hey Madchemist. Have you ever listened to any Pigface? What about Josh Wink or United DJ's of America?
Oh, and Bill...Who the fuck is John Prine?
I think everybody would find at least one song they liked and probably a few that instantly qualify as "hall of fame" material on both of DOWNS albums. They have an all-star lineup including Phil Anselmo and Pepper Keenan who transcend thier role in thier respective "primary bands" and offer a completly original and diverse sound and style, they are heavy sometimes with ass-crunchin' Southern-groove riffs, very intense, but not hateful or over-aggressive, and sometimes they're bluesy (these guys are TRUE guitarists/artists with skills -and- heart and soul)and melodic. Thier "day jobs" have allowed them only 2 albums (94's "NOLA" and 01's "Down II A Bustle In Your Hedgerow") , 2 bad ass albums that are 7 years apart, but these are true musicians and after even after seven years they are still truly DOWN! If you like Sabbath or Zepplin with a dash Stevie Ray and sprig of ZZ... or Hardcore Cindy Lauper (LOL on the Cindy) that defies genre at least listen to Down's two classic albums all the way through once apiece. Who knows, after you take a ride on "Temptations Wings" you might become a "Lifer" and join your BROES, in the Brotherhood of Eternal Sleep. If you're not used to "heavy" lifting, Down II "may" better suit your warmup, but they both are balanced with the forementioned qualitys and tones.
They're so-so I guess. (lol)

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
Kirby, Kirby...Aussies can't "feel" ZZ-Top!
They're bad- they're NATIONwide! They're cow-"buggering" Texans "for the queens sake!" lol!
I must say, in defense of "good" music...ZZ, I'm afraid, like many other bands has to be given the dubious distinction of "early"..."Early" ZZ top was good. Some of that "pop" shit in the 80's sucked ass!
Simon & Garfunkel...Not sure...I think I always confuse them with Tommy James & the Shondells, whom I think did "Crimson & Clover" which is a pretty cool song for that era (an era that for circumstances beyond my control I didn't get to experience.).
Whoa...Take it easy guys!...Don't get the wrong Ideal...Shooter's no softy now! Anybody that listens to Crimson & Clover while they cook dope needs to be shot in the pussy! Or at least an ass-whoopin'... Make it look like an accident!
{Shooter explaining to Officer Dick Lickey what happened: " I was just sitting here cleaning my fist and it went off officer"!}
Speaking of Straight Shooter...How about
Bad Company? Or specifically, The song "Bad Company" off the album Bad Company by the band Bad Company.
That'a a "bad"-ass song. Right?

cage is a hard core rock band. the lead singer was raised in alaska. SWIM has a customer that went to school with the lead singer and said customer also owns a house in san diego where he winters and the band meet up there with him and partys and he go`s to a few gigs across the country with them. anyways he brought the band up a couple years back to go into the alskan bush in these bad ass bush country 4x4`s we build in our shop. chevy crew cabs on ZF planetary axles with 72 inch tractor tires. baddest 4x4`s in the fuckin land. we partied our ass off for a week, non stop i might add heh. anyways cage opened for metallica on there world tour a few years back. i also get there cd`s before they are released, by several months. life is fuckin good.

Hey Jam!
Glad to hear you (and a few others) are fellow CFHers (Cowboys From Hell). Its a damn shame though that PanterA is no more, thanks to Phil's, desire to leave PanterA, to do Super Joint Ritual, a piss-ant, punk style band that are easily dwarfed by the mighty Trend-killers.
Jam...If you're that close, then come kick it! Its not the Hilton, but I'll make sure you have a comfortable and entertaining visit for a day or so. I'd even pay for your gas back and keep you in smokes and shit while you're here...I'd love to hang out with one of my bros in person, espeacially a bro who's liked and respected like you Jam...Not to mention there'd be a hands on witness to back the claims I've made!
Peace!

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
swim tapes the stopper on the sep funl. holds it at the stopcock like a drum stick and plays the air drums to some Lynyrd Skynyrd (I know a little/give me 3 steps)when "shake it like your life depended on" is called for. Swim has snaped more than one funnel just above the stopcock doing this. (cheap ass funnels) Swim spends the extra $ now for name brand glassware and has yet to brake a drumstick.

Dragonman,
I'm not trying to be "Mr. Perfect", but for future referance; Its Hank Williams "Jr." (Ironically enough Hank Williams III plays bass for Superjoint Ritual, featuring Phil from PanterA...he does vocals and plays guitar as well with SJR.) Charlie Daniels is Jr.-less.

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
Absolutely Bro. And Bloody Kisses is a good compliment when the situation is really long and really right.
Type-O somehow just never got the recognition those fellas deserved.
But I in Phoenix in 1995 got to meet them because I won backstage passes off the now long gone Metal Stations known as Z-ROCK.(each major city had a Z-ROCK)
I tell you this though man, I enjoyed just beingthird row back for that three hour show than actually meeting them.
Still that was kool-as-ice and a memory I can look back on.

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
Green, I would NEVER fail to mention DOWN...As sure as its tatted across my calf in its trademarked Old English lettering...DOWN; not just because I love them...but because I am.
Go back in the thread and read the lengthy endorsement I made for the N.O.L.A. boys...Thier not just Phil from Pantera, but Pepper from C.O.C.; Kurt from Crowbar; Jimmy from Eye Hate God, Crowbar, Superjoint, and C.O.C.; and Rex from Pantera.

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
Shootr, i can see this is going to be one of those instances where my failure to read the thread due to lazyiness is going to come back and bite me in the ass,
I would never forget any of those boys as i luv em all, Conformity,Crowbar,I hate, Pantera, i just didnt think everyone would want to hear me rambleing on about a bunch of bands and side projects and such let alone understand who the hell i was talking about, if they werent into that genre of music.....im very sorry for not giving credit where credit was due, as i have not forgotten any of them......as for me, well.....burn me,purge me,beat me, do whatever you want to me as long as you Bury me in smoke and let me remain forever...Unscarred!!
Ill go back and read the thread now and see how much of an ass i made out of myself for just adding my two cents....i promise to read them from now on before i open my big fat mouth....P.S. Shootr?? a member of Down?? if you are or if you are not i still apologize if i offended you, oh and one more thing...no offense intended but, Superjoint Rit... come on now... sorry but Green is still a little upset over that one.
Ok, back to read the thread and then probably to the garden to eat worms...Peace---Green
and one more thing the older Conformity will always reign.......Albatross.......baby!

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
Green...
We are DEFFINITELY B.R.O.E.S.! You're right most people wouldn't care to here about all the side projects!
I am of course, not a member of Down, just have the tat 'cause I like them, and because I am "Down" for what I believe in...
I'm still pissed about S.J.R. too, it'd be one thing if Phil left PanterA to do Down full time, but S.J.R. pretty much suck in my opinion.
I didn't mean to come off harsh... at all. Espeacially to a fellow "LIFER", someone "Who can't shake TEMPTATIONS WINGS"!!!WWWWWWRRRRRRRHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PEACE B.R.O.E.!

Re: Best tunes to listen to while doin'/makin' dope?
How about some Anthrax Persistance of Time and The Sound of White Noise?!
Got this going on right now on my headphones as the Rxn is 'bout ready for the A/B---->Hcl(g)---->D.O.P.E.
This is what being in a safe place while doing your Rxn is all about gentlemen!! No paranoids and pumping-up for that 30-unit blast to the brain!! with some kick-ass tunage on the headphones.
I love my Anthrax man...........LOVE IT!!
Persistance of Time is one of them albums that make you wanna go out and fist-fight the whole fuckin' planet at once!!(kinda like Pantara Vulgar Display of Power).
Who wants a shot/bowl/line???!!!!!!
Tis' the Season you know?!
