Just wanted to say thank you totse for all your help. My friend said his rxn finally went off. He has one question though. Even though the Eph turned into Meth it was very low quality. What could be the reason for this?

Maybe Im wrong here, but let me guess "your friends" reaction was actually CASPER THE WIZARDs reaction. Sorry if Im incorrect on this one but it sounds like CASPERS question just posed differently. Maybe Im wrong or just being plain paranoid, wish I could see IP addresses.

how long did the rxn, react. and what sort of stock was used?, hard to say WHY without a bit more input, i;ve dreamt some good n some bad and still find it a puzzel, but dreams are hazy at best, .

Thank you for your response RNX. He said his reaction went for 3 hours @ 150-170 then 190 for the last 30 minutes. He said he used 1.2-1.4 I2 to E, and 1 to 1 RP to E. Why did it turn out such low quality. Any advise would be helpful.

temp n time sound good, tell him to try usen same amounts of E, and IO, swim uses a tad more io than E, swim sticks with a 1/3/3, rp to e to io, and 1/2 the amount of E in distilled, everything dry, sounds like some ido e was left in the final product, unreacted E, not everything was converted. try a 1/3/3 mix, same time and heat...

Just got done screw-in myself as you advised. Anyway so here is my .o2 cents as well, granted Im no chemist or cook. RXN was probably spot on with his diagnosis but also look into quality of precursors maybe. Crap in=crap out like they say. Like RXn said though an abundance of iodine and Rp may help.The extra hydriodic acid would maybe insure complete reaction.
