Re: flakes
Sodium hypophosphite or phate i fergit is easily turned into the strong reduceing agent [hypophosphorus acid] by simply heating with hcl then filtering out the solids and evaping off some water.
4 times stronger than hydriodic acid.

lookup "hypo tale"

You know, I really dislike the Jam just says yes or no and thats it, instead of actually taking the time to research, and post a more open minded and educated reply.

Re: flakes
And you are absolutely right bone crusher. Phosphorus acid (H3PO4) is absolutely non-suspicous/watched, and is one of the most abundant acids on earth. It is in everything, even Coca-Cola. Hypophosphorus acid and salts (H3PO2), and phosphoric acid and salts (H3PO3) are highly watched, at least here in the US. However SWIM has heard that solutions of hypophosphoric acid are sold in some plating kits/solutions (as in metal plating) here in the US. Do some searching in that area.

While doing research SWIM came across this website concerning watched chemicals. SWIM asked me to post the web address here

Hey Bone why are you always ragging on these people ?? these are some pretty cool people here, always willing to lend a hand, answer a question and set things straight so it's easier to filter through the bulllshit that is posted here from time to time. I'm sure the day will come when you need a little help and instead of getting a life preserver someone will throw you a rock or drop you one from a helicopter. Be ready to catch it.
Chill out dude show some respect, momma always said you catch more flys with sugar than vinegar.

Re: flakes
Buck, I can appreciate what you say but look at the second post in this thread...the one by Jam, now you tell me....doesn't that response reflect a serious attitude? And answer this, is that post by Jam helpful or a hinderance? His answer is misleading and untrue...you know that as well as I do! Even MadChemist thought his remark was out of line but I dont see you making any comment about her
I have made my mistakes here and I have learned from them, Ill never offer advice on this forum again, Ill only post facts. My response was not a slam or a flame, just an observation...so you tell me are we going to waste the rest of this thread flamming me?

Re: flakes
Boner from what I see from the time you "joined" this forum you have been somewhat disrespectful to the best people here. If you do a little research you WILL find answers to your questions I guarntee it, if after looking at all of the various info available you still have questions then ask but be respectful. It appears JAM is tired of answering question about this topic.

Re: flakes
i know this is going to sound lazy but, does anyone know if these are viable alternatives to RP :
1. Phosphorous acid
2. Phosphorus pentoxide
if so, how available are they? ratios?

Re: flakes
Well, thanks I guess.
I'm gonna have to change that "From" part.
Might as well do it now when I'm bored and jacked and motivated by some Diesel Boy.
