Just wondering if anybody in Aus. has used those match books u can order online which they print a logo on for ya - promotional match books ??

Also, which method is preferred when obtaining the RP off the match books - scratch & clean or i read somewhere a method of soaking them in some solvent then filtering, & clean?

SWIB has never used the online matchbooks but he has tried both methods of cleaning and he has noticed that it is less work to cut and soak, however there is some waste regardless of how many times you soak or how much you agitate while soaking. Scraping is more work but there is far less waste.

SWIB has decided that neither is worth all the additional work and has opted to use phosphorus acid instead. Gram for gram its much cheaper and none of the additional work

Hope this helps

Could someone elaborate on this Phosphorous Acid...

Where would one get it?

What is it used for?

When u say gram 4 gram swim gather's u mean use a ratio of 1:1 (eph : phos)?

Where and how to get it depends on where you live .. if you live in oz it's not going to be easy only by illegle means...USA don't know ..

Whats it used for ..plenty of things .. I know a guy who makes a lot of fertalisers and products for the agricultural sector, he loves the stuff.. But i would doub't, unless you have some serious chemical knowledge, you aren't going to be able to extract it ... it may be able to be done I don't know..but for all the trouble that it is worth for the moment, if you can't get !100% phos, stick to scratching matches.. there is also a matter of the "hypo tale" .. I haven't read it but i know its out there, may offer alternatives..

If you want to check out ratios then go look at Jamiroquai's post "express lane to paradise city" (by space trucker)... it's here at totse..

OOOPPPSS ..just re-read your post ..you are in OZ very hard to get mate .. its a restricted substance ..catagory 2 i think which means, unless you steal it or know someone who can get you some ..it's going to be very tough.. Which state do you live in ????

Thats a shame dude ..if i here of a way it can be done i will let you know .. the only way i can think of maybe buying it would be if you owned a farm and made some bullshit story... but i haven't even looked into that yet since i don't own a farm i don't know the complexities of trying to buy stuff like that .. all i know is they make it very hard.. especially after sept 11th ..

And in respect to your first question about buying match books online ...well i know you can do it over the phone .. a company called "promote it " in NSW does match books with logos ... or blank if you like ..they don't care .. from memory it isnt that expensive .. if you are interested and can't find the number let me know i may have better luck in finding it again ,,,i don't know if the company still exists..

if you need RP and you live in australia, it is extremly easy to obtain, easier to get then if you lived in america. will cost you about 20 dollars for 7 grams. Go to your nearest shop and you know the number one brand of matches in australia, with the diamond striker pads and the lady with the carrot top, you know what im talkin about, look for that brand, but not the normal size boxes look for the extra long matches, the box is bigger and the striker pad looks like a matchbook pad but much much larger, just buy alot of these and shake up with acetone, the RP comes off easily and just clean up normaly.
