it's a hot plate.... of sorts.
The last time I went to Switrd's house, he had coffee on. Or so I thought....I grab a coffee cup and then find out there is no coffee! He had his flask sitting atop the hot plate on the coffee pot. I didn't think it was a good idea, that it would be anywhere near hot enough. Well it get's up to right around 160f which in turn is approx. 71c. So with some minor mods for the balloon which was now attached to a piece of tubing which was connected and sealed to the stopper deal on the flask. How safe would it be left over night? I know that I've left my coffe pot on over night with out harm or malfuntion of the burner. Thank you in advance for any ideas or constructive criticism.

Re: it's a hot plate.... of sorts.
Come on kirb, if the theoretical cold method works...then this might speed things up a bit, wouldn't ya say?? Switrd's in disagreement with that. He says he's not wasting any more money for a night light, nor will he whisper in its ear.

Re: it's a hot plate.... of sorts.
Hey Tired, went over to bill's house the other day and reached for a cup of coffee and discovered bill also had a flask simmering instead of a glass coffee pot. Bill
told me to mind my on business, as he has been doing this for months. He also says he lets it stew all night unattended and sometimes for days. Takes a peek now and then. Makes a good cup of jo. hehehe!!
Later on, Tired.

Re: it's a hot plate.... of sorts.
swims left his set for couple hrs at a time but finds coffee burner just right for overnights, but afraid mix would settle at 3 to 4 hrs and burn to ugly cookie,,, swim likes to kill and restart rxn once every 1.2 hr,, swim believes that 80 degrees to 120 causes a nice vapor to swrill around given a good reduction for more product in the time aloted for a short cook of 3 to 6 hrs, getting a good reduction with good product amount brought back in little time is great learning exp..

Hey kirb...Switrd and I always look forward to your "comic relief" and it's not a waste of time. Without laughter, everyone sucks.
bill....you are so right about that java. It kicks the crap outta Starbucks any day!!
RNX...that's what Switrd kept saying...about it being good for the set it and forget it type rxn.
madd...Thank you for those kind words. I'm glad you liked the post. Make sure you don't let it dissapear though. Copy and paste it somewhere if ya need to refer back to it for a quote...or just a second voice.
