What could I use magnesium for? Anything?

sure you can. when you go camping you can carry magnesium and a strip of steel. scraping the magnesium with the steel creats hot sparks that will ignite dry leaves etc. they sell these in outdoor stores. i carry one every time i go in the woods. in alaska it could mean the difference between living and dying.
