In the 3 steps method psuedo ext (rainman) it states that "no substitutions" can be used instead of vm&p naptha in the extraction fluid.. As far as i know that particular product is not sold in Australia..It also states that pet ether can't be used either ..in an msds i happened to stumble across vm&p naptha is 89% petroleum ether, 9% xylene, 2% ethlybenzene.. I know it says no substitutes, but one is needed .. does anyone have any ideas ?? I have read the post that states that no other alcohol will do the same thing ? Failing a substitute can anyone suggest an "up to date" pfed extraction which doesn't use naptha ??

You can use any CLEAN non polar solvent in place of VM&P naptha. VM&P isn't irreplacable, they only tell you not to sub it because if they didn't someone would use dirty garbage non-polar and they would fuck up the workup and get all pissed.

By clean I mean evaporates with no residue off glass and or distilled slowly by yourself. Try and stick with pure one ingredient solvents like naptha, toluene, xylene, ether, DCM, etc. It makes evaporation easier.
