I do not know a whole lot but even i know whast gun blue is It is a sealer for steel as in gun stocks and it forms a black oxide finish. AS to where you buy it any where there is a sporting goods section. Any one else that might have something useful and that makes sense ,please respond. Thanks, shelley67

Bullshit method alert, you can't make pseudo at home, nor can you make anything useful with gun blueing, besides a refinished gun.

Re: has any one tried the recipe for home made edphedrine?
heres an alternative hemisphere answer,,isnt metal blueing used for blueprinting engines,,as in you stain the block face blue,, then run the crankshaft on it and see what blue has worn off,,then machine it accordingly???

Re: has any one tried the recipe for home made edphedrine?
Kirby: Gun bluing is a mixture of chemicals that rusts/oxidizes the steel surface. This oxidation protects against further ugly rusting. There are ussually all sorts of acids and nasty stuff in bluing compound.
Machinists use prussian blue, just a type of dye.
