make sure you have purchased 100%acetone,,,,go and buy a kilo of epsom salts in the soil supplement section of,,hmm you must have hardware shops in india but now that i think of it i never saw one,,,,,anyway,,,get a baking dish and spread the epsom over it evenly..then place in oven and bake at 300c for 3 hours,,,allow to cool,,,,then tip out of baking dish and crumble into knuckle size pieces,,,store pieces in dry airtight container,,,,,,,,,,

get the can of acetone and place a small handfull (of the dried epsom) per litre into the acetone,,put lid on and swirl around for 3 mins,,,then allow to sit for an hour,,,filter acetone just before use,,,,,thats how you get dry acetone mr atome

if you luck out with the epson salts ..

Sodium carbonate (aka washing soda) or even sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda ) are both hydroscopic and may do the trick oven dried.. but you may need to check if they are soluble in acetone ...i haven't looked into it ..if you will forgive me ..i don't

think they use it in popodoms ..but you should be able to find it at your local food store. If you are havin trouble matching it over there becuase they aren't called the same thing (and this goes for any product)try searching for msds's of products you can get, if you aren't sure what is in it, and they will tell you and you can go from there..you should be able to find msds's for any product on the market, and sometimes they can be more informative than you imagine..

No curry for you, keep lookin !!

A QUESTION LONG PONDERED BY DARRYL IS THIS: IF MAGNESIUM SULFATE IS SOLUBLE IN WATER AND WATER (DARRYL THINKS THE TERM IS MISCIBLE IN ACETONE)COMBINES WITH ACETONE WITHOUT SEPARATING INTO TWO LAYERS THEN WOULD THERE NOT BE A FINAL SOLUTION OF "DRY" ACETONE WITH MAGNESIUM SULFATE IN IT??

WORDED DIFFERENTLY: WHEN THE DRIED MgSO4 IS PLACED IN THE FUNNEL (WITH A FILTER) AND THE ACETONE IS POURED THROUGH THE MgSO4 WOULDN'T THE H20 IN THE ACETONE DISSOLVE SOME OF THE MgSO4 ALLOWING IT TO PASS THROUGH THE FILTER WITH THE H20 THAT DISSOLVED IT/?????

Substitutions for epsom salts do exist, as mentioned earlier nearly any compound that is hygroscopic and wont dissolve in said solvent will work.

Here are a couple ideas, silica gel, and molecular sieves.

I have add bicarbonate of sodium has a solution acetone and then filtered 2 times and left dry acetone in pyrex dish !

There was no sodium bicarbonate particle !

Thus if the bicarbonnate absorbed water well I should have L acetone dry !

Hrmm...i am guessing here ...so check this out first ..(this theory goes for the mag sulphate as well..) i have heard that a smart person when drying MgS04 will shape it into larger chunks when drying it in the oven ...this may work for bicarb as well...i have seen sodium carbonate "in chunks" put into water and "snap hydrate" ..you have to stir the living shit out if it for ages to get it into the water..I am guessing that if you put only large dried chunks into the acetone in excess it may draw in the water while remaining in chunks to be filtered out ..id make sure it was dried properly in the oven first .. as far as forming chunks this is a big guess as well maybe try adding a smidge of water to it and shaping it into chunks then dry undisturbed in the oven ..??? I was hoping that one of the more experienced members of this forum would be able verify this for you as ..i repeat i am only guessing.. and if i am way of ..i appoligise for filling this post up with bs info & if this info is wrong let me know and i will delete it !!
