Ok all have seen the previous post. I am going on holidays for 2 weeks and I know i am going to get bored, thus the rush <..Help me out here please..are the conc's likely to be over counter ?? If so what are the most likely concentrations of ...HCl and H2S04 i would find cos I don't want to eat my guts out ...and i don't want to start at 1 % and work my way up ...chasing pills is not my idea of a fun holiday ,,..

lol..alright ..i'm not going anywhere..my ansestors came from europe, but not as convicts, and im not buying, im making the equivalent of what these people talk about, in the methods i have mentioned earlier, as being HCl and H2S04.(conc=concentration).

Look i can get H2S04 at 98% purity and HCl at 33% (4 drops of either will porlly eat thruogh your larynx)so when people say "4 drops of HCl" (example) it means to me that its 4 drops acid.. very vague. As they are being so general i am assuming that they are using a concentration that is readily available over the counter in U.S.A.. (where the posts i am interested in originated) If i am going to have a pot shot at the % concentration , then this will be my starting point..as no-one has been particuly helpfull to-date..(for reasons i understand ).

So to cut a long story short ..if anyone has "no idea" of the concentrations used in the methods i discussed than i am going to plan "B" and asking :

What are the concentrations of over the counter HCl and H2S04 in the U.S.A.??

And if you still got energy left ..what is the primary (important) solvent in charcoal lighter fluid?? Can i shoot for a mineral spirit as an alternative ..

Guess i'm not expecting an answer . I know i'm bludgin of yas a bit but at this moment i lack the knowledge to do it myself. But i have to start somewhere ..just as each one of you did..Think about it ..I am asking for a shove in the right direction !!

Hey Spook...As far as the conc's--that is correct in the %'s. The corrosive nature of the mentioned acids is something to keep in mind but Swirh would not suggest using them as a throatwash or ingestion (Swirh knows you were just making a point bout the larynx) but with common sense and good saftey precautions most techniques are very safe. Swirh had read somewhere about diluting the HCl with some DH2O to help one from over-acidifying... It is rumored easy to do and sucks to work with an over zealous amount of HCl...

As per the lighter fluid, Swirh has heard that naptha is a good alternative and that plain old camp fuel can be utilized... That is not the most recommended but it can be used due to rust inhibitors... Anyhow, hope that this helps... Peace
