Default Has Annie. Dry Ice/ Transportation question.

As the title suggests, I have access to large amounts of anhydrous ammonia. My problem, however, is that it is in huge tanks (think large propane tanks at the gas station). I need to transfer this ammonia 500 miles driving. Now then, what should I do to ensure that it stays at a low enough temperature not to vaporize during the trip? I'm thinking putting dry ice directly into the solution will not work, though I could be wrong. Any tips/solutions? Thanks.

ok forget the dry ice for transportation,,,find yourself a clean propane tank or other suitable tank able to take pressure,,,,unscrew the valve and clean tank,,,,screw in a stainless valve,,,your going to have to check out the fitting on the outlet valve of the big tank,,,now get a valve/connector to fit your tank and a valve connector to fit the mother tank,,,connect both valves to a suitable hose for ammonia use,,,stake out for 2 nights where mother tank is located and watch for guards timetable, any camera activity, check to see if fence is electric and see if david doberman is in residence,,,, now taking tank and hose and tools required ,,,attach hose to both tanks,,make sure small tank is below level of mother tank,,,make sure hose is curved down in a straight arc so ammonia flows easily,,open your tank all the way,,open bleeder valve(MUST have bleeder valve on small tank) all the way,,,now open mother tank and let it fill till ammonia comes out the bleeder valve,,,close bleeder first,,then valve on small tank,,then valve on mother tank,,,begin to unscrew hose from small tank watching for any ammonia pressure,,allow any pressure to bleed off before finishing unscrewing,,now unscrew hose fromt mother tank,,collect tools tank and hose,,run away,,,,,,,,,,by having the ammonia in a pressurized tank you wont lose any,,and its very safe for transportation,,oh yeah,,,,goodluck

another idea for a transport tank.....the older style fire extinguisher has a screw of handle /valve system...most are capable of 585 psi.

Dude it is not wise to get online with you're ip logged then tell people you plan to transport anhydrous ammonia you do know without a license possesion of ammounia can carry up to thirty years Swim would suggest you being a little smarter and maybe saying something like if one was to transport ammounia hypothetically of course than what precautions should he take and lets say for game he is trying to bring it abou 500 miles.Never tell someone what you're plans really are that could end you up in a heap load of trouble......... you're friend swilla =)

I thought about that just after posting. Thanks. Although it shouldn't be too much of an issue, as I never use a home account on the internet. These are all community accounts, so my IP could be anything. Thanks for the advice though. Also, dry ice is easy to obtain, why would anyone need help stealing it? Anyway...
