Default Q for Swigotta

I know its Sunday and you have a family so when you get a chance if you can give swim a little help.

Swim has read that when dreaming st8 2 e swigotta does the xylene part separately. Can you please explain how this is done? (You know put this in that and then heat for so many minutes at such and such a temperature). Swim also read swigotta talking about an additional xylene crash would improve quality. Sorry for asking something that is probably discussed somewhere in some forum on one of the many sites used for research. But would you please explain what Crash is as apposed to Flash... swim thinks his dreams are of OK quality, but wonders if it’s clean enough. (If you are wondering if it’s clean……..it’s NOT). Geez’s haunting statement is always in the back of swims mind. Swim’s dreams in bright white with a Pearle sent coloration and very light and fluffy. Is swim on the right train? Or still sitting in the station? Post dreaming has not been terrible but yield and quality are inconsistent (36hr @ 90 to 105 c 1e-1rp-1.3 I2 & 1ml-I2) any help you can give is appreciated greatly. Anything is possible with the right guidance and hard work.

Default Re: Q for Swigotta

The following is extremely long winded and written primarily for the beginner who has not established his/her own technique for purification of pill extracted pseudoephedrine. The A/B and acetone/iso dual solvent recrystallization are both very good techniques that will produce a final product equally as good as the reserve product described here. Just a little warning so you won't read the whole thing for nothing.

The pipe was in the old boys pocket and he was almost out the door. I just stopped in for a minute and saw this title. It always intrigues me irresistibly. So, pipe out, "tobacco" added and away we go.

Let's start with flashing as opposed to crashing. I believe these are terms used only by the clandestine chemist, but just as good as any other I suppose. They were defined for me by the geezer who compared the experience necessary to efficiently perform either of these techniques, to that of a plumber's when tightening a pipe. When there is only an eighth turn between too loose and too tight, you have to have a "feel" for when its tight enough. Unfortunately, no one can tell you what tight enough "feels" like. That's the way it is with this whole operation.

Flashing is used to define flooding a semi or mostly dry crystal plate with dry acetone. In my opinion this is extremely technique dependent and easily disasterous. You have to get the dryness of the plate just right. Too dry and the crystals will adhere to the plate and trap impurities in the structure. Too wet and the crystals will dissolve into the solution. Even if you do it just right, you still have to pour off the acetone and swirl or "pan" the crystals together, neither of which is nice and tidy.

Crashing, on the other hand...........

You know, just when I thought I would get a chance to write this post, the phone rings and somebody has a problem that just slammed the brakes on everything. So, it's been like five hours since I started this thing and now I have to try to get my thoughts organized again. So, if I seem to lose continuity, I apologize. It was a nipple twister, but it's fixed and everything is zen.

Now, it's looks like we had moved on to crashing. This technique is much more comfortable for ole Swigotta.

Let's say that you have just extracted some raw pseudo from pills using video editors straight 2 E method (kinda sorta) but decided to filter off the crystals from the naptha iso elixir without the addition of the xylene. You just pretended to add the xylene. You did everything else the same way. Now, you have a pile of crunchy, white fine beach sand with little white needles sparkling throughout. The needles are what you seek and the beach sand is what you need to leave in the ocean.

Take these dried crystals and put them in a heating vessel. Add some alcohol (denatured dissolves them quicker, but isopropyl is ok too). As far as the dryness of the alcohol goes, it will have to be your call. Swigotta dries every bit of iso as soon as it comes in, but has never bothered to dry denatured. Whichever way you go, it will work out fine.

OK. You need to add just enough to make a slurry, then put it on the heat and bring the temp up slowly until it all dissolves.

Now, this next part can go one of two ways. Technically, crashing is defined as pouring the crystal solution into the non polar solution. If you do it this way, it will form crystals quickly when the hot solution hits the cool solution, but you will end up with a flask with a thick layer of raw pseudo coating the walls that will have to be reprocessed. This method just won't do for the very conservative type. So, there is another way that is much more efficient.

When your alcohol/raw pseudo solution is very warm and completely dissolved, remove it from the heat and ADD TO IT an excessive amount of xylene. 5X the volume of the alcohol solution is the absolute minimum, and you will just be cheating yourself if you do so. Swigotta goes with a minimum of 15X. The more the merrier.

NOTE: This xylene, once used, can be put in the freezer for a few hours, then finely vacuum filtered and used again several times until it begins to turn orangish golden brown (or whatever color the gaak juice turns it).

I know this is hard to keep up with, but that's the way I do it. I've tried to write out a nice, short, "nothing but the facts" answer, but it just won't work. You can always cut and paste the parts you need and put them all together in a nice, neat orderly fashion. You can pick up again right here--

Once the xylene is added, the whole thing is put back on the heat and the temp is turned up. Swigotta prefers to take more time and less heat rather than the other way around.

I was going to skip the details of this next option, but there are some out there who may want to reserve a little something special for that "private reserve made from the very finest of ingredients" kind of thing.

The principle of this step has to do with a change in solubility of the pseudo and the remaining gaak in a supersaturated solution of alcohol in which both (or however many gaaks remain) are very soluble (remember, in denatured more so than iso. This will become clearly important in deciding which one you are better suited to once you have tried each of them a few times.)when a highly non polar, but slow evaporating solvent is added. The gaaks remain in solution, but the pseudo cannot. As the ratio of soluble to insoluble begins to lean toward insoluble, crystals slowly begin to form.. This is where you have to learn when that pipe is just tight enough. The good thing is, if you take it from the heat too quickly, you just put it back on again. The only thing lost is a little of your time. If you go too long, well, you just end up with all of it the same quality; very good, with a fairly low chance of making it sticky..

Damn, I got ahead of myself and now you're sitting there saying "What the hell is this guy talking about. (cut and paste)--

Boil the xylene solution for "a little while", try reducing the volume by, let's say, 10%. Turn off the heat, but leave the vessel on the heating device with the lid on; loose at first, then tight as soon as you feel it is safe. In 5 or 6 hours, take a look in the jar and report back with your findings. Do this as many times as you want, THEN heat it up good and hot, which will drive off the remaining alcohol and force the rest of your pseudo out of solution as a thick cottony precipitant. The heat and high concentration of pseudo can cause the pseudo to come out a little bit sticky sometimes. Not enough to feel, and certainly not enough to see, but enough to leave a residue on the filter paper upon close examination. This is why it is imperative that you do not skimp on the xylene. If you are as tight as Swigotta, then it is inevitable that you will try to devise a way not to "waste" so much xylene. (remember, with good, heavy vacuum filtration, it can be reused several times) Trust me just one time, the first time, and the results will speak for themselves.

The special reserve that you will skim off the top, will allow you to answer geez's question without any hesitation whatsoever.

"Hey, are you sure that your pseudo is clean?" Why, yes, as a matter of fact, I am.

Another thing geez said that you won't find in his posts......"you will be shocked when you realize what you have been using in your reactions all this time."

PS--Since I read the question before I left the house last night, I was able to go over all of this with Swigotta, right then and there. I'm sorry it's so scattered about, but this technique has many nuances that I feel need to be explained as much as possible. Upon rereading this post, it may not be enough, so I will try to check in a little more often at first than I had planned on this week. (It's an important week for my wife and I.) If you can't understand the theory and can't identify the physical characteristics of each stage of the process, then the chances of failure increase. One too many failures and you will either give up or call me a liar.

Cal me a liar and you'll have to put on the blindfold and come with me to the secret undrground babe lair where Swigotta will have to SHOW you what I was unable to TELL you.

Anybody who has ever overtightened a pipe to where it leaked will tell you that they had it perfect, but was unsure if it was tight enough, so they went just a little bit tighter. Damn, if I just would have known.

I will next time.

Read it a few times. Cut and paste it together the way you can see it better (just don't fuck up the order), or whatever you need to do to learn this technique. I personally think it's the geezmeisters all time greatest contribution to the art of precursor purification. Coupled with video editors yield increasing technique and the gaakifiers are going to be as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Hey, tryp. What are your thoughts on digital photos? I found some when I was out for my evening walk the other day . Just wondered what input you might have.

Swigotta,

You always seem to hit the nail on the head. (the post was aimed at you for that very reason) My questions have been answered in perfect detail and swim thanks you for that. I will read this a few more times and let you know if swim suffers from any nightmares. Sounds as if a gallon or two will be needed on hand. Off to the depot swim goes. Thanks again says swim.

Newbees are why I come here instead of the hive. (Still can't seem to get past the painful memories invoked by CH, but I will). If someone actually enjoys what they have read and it leads them to dream happy dreams, then validation is granted to the worthiness of the thousands of hours that have been dedicated by two dumbasses who are constantly in the dog house with their wives for spending so much time in the basement "messing around with that shit".

There's a whole lot more, but gogo has decided to stop promising info and then being a liar for not following through because there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done.

Think.

Be careful.

Be safe.

Pikk,

I'm sure it's not a problem with us personally over there man. I'm guessing that it has more to do with the fact of everything that went on during that period of Gotta's life; from getting involved with CH, and shuggies extreme struggles in the early stages of life.

Fatherhood must be extremely tough and I can only imagine what he was going through with shuggie at the hospital for all of that time.

Gotta: I think I understand what your feeling(that sounds extremely ridiculous to even me right now, as even I know that I could never possibly feel...), but just as pikk said, your presence is missed over there. Jade, was asking about you the other day, man! At least do the family a favor, and stop in to say Hi. Sinus is back, and so many others... it's great!

Wow, if that's not a CH advetisement, then I don't know what is.

Ware says it best, "Peace of the Reaction"

Just so it won't be this big mysterious thing, I'll explain a bit. It doesn't suprise me a bit that lukky is exactly right. As soon as I got the word it was up, I went straight to the site. I can't explain what happened, only that I had blocked the memory of what I perceived as extreme physical torture that my child endured for two weeks straight, and nobody even gave a shit. She wasn't in pain, no she was just irritable. If you are a nurse, never tell someone who's kid has a terminal illness that he/she is "just" anything. It just might save your life.

Anyway, the people at CH, yeah, those fuckin loser, drug addicts that only care about themselves, probably saved my life. For sure, I can't imagine having to come home every night and find myself alone with my thoughts.

Every time I think about how supportive and caring those supposed "freaks" were, and still are to me, it brings everything to the front again. Like its doing right now.

I told you I was a psycho. What, did you think I was kidding?
