Default What is this glass?

To anyone that might know:

Swirh has seen an unusual piece of glass that he (as of date) has been unable to i.d. It is something akin to a column with and hourglass-like taper in the middle of the column (inside and out). There are what appears to be vacumn ports on the top and bottom...

Does anyone have a clue? And perhaps what it is used for? Or better yet, does anyone know where one could find a resource page that listed different glassware (preferable with a pic)

Swirh has found different utilities including conversion tables and solvent data of priceless use... Anyhow, hope someone can help swim out on this... Peace

Well, that is the strange things about it...It does not have a condensor type setup for the ports...They are actually introduced into the main chamber of the glass (strange...) and there are not several tapers... just one in the middle (just like an hourglass)... Swirh has never seen anything like this and was somewhat puzzled as to the use... As Swirh is fond of saying..."Ya never know"... Anyway, he thought it could be useful or might be at a point in the future...

Thanks for the help all... Peace...

A pic might be of use here, though your second description is puzzling.

No valves on either of the inlets?

Mnm...it has the taper joint nipples like on a filter flask but Swirh does not see the point as it is one continous loop going on... Strange creature there... Swirh hasn't the foggiest what it could be for... He is not completely stupid...(tho he only has two brain cells and one of them is giving CPR to the other one, hehe) but he cannot place this thing for the life of him... If he can figure out the proxy for the pic then he will submit a pic... Peace...

You might check a Kimble/Knotes or Chemglass catalog, they have alot of instuctions for setting up differnt configurations of glassware with pictures. Swim ordered on-line and recieved about 5 days later.
