Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
Sure, or you could just put it through a normal A/B extraction using Hydrochloric acid to yield pseudo.hcl
If you do intent to use it as is, remember that pseudo.so4 has a different molar weight than pseudo.hcl
( it could be important in your calculations depending on the volume intended )

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
could i have a bit more info on this are you saying to just ad HCL to the extracted psuedo sulphate.would the pills be cleaned in the same way as your normal type of pills (eg;sudafed60mg)then ad HCL then A/B

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
lost...A/B stands for Acid/Base ...Hcl is the A that is being suggested to use...
Hopes this helps...

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
Hmmmm.......ok, just think of it like this. That pesky word on the end just indicates the acid used to form the salt form (oh great, how the hell am I supposed to explain what a salt is. If someone has a better educated but simple explaination than the following, please post) A salt is just a form of the same basic molecule that is more stable when compounding into medications. I think its more bioavailable too. Well, anyway, I think thats why the pharmceutical companies use it.
Now, lets say you have the sulfate form of ephedrine and want it to be a hcl. instead. (I can't help with the numbers, just the basic theory)
As the candy coated one suggested performing an A/B, or acid/base reaction on it would work. Basically, you would convert the sulfate to the freebase, then convert the freebase to the salt using hcl instead of sulfuric acid, thus obtaining ephedrine hcl.
This is an oversimplified version with a lot left out, but that's the jist of it.

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
I think I have something to offer. The phosphate and sulfate salts of Eph must be changed to Hcl or freebase before reduction. And you can reduce freebase and Hcl just the same.

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
A salt is a substance where a non-metal(elements on right side of periodic table) is bonded with a metal(left side of periodic table). A Molecule is a substance that only is composed of non-metals .HCl and SO4 are both non-metals therefore C10H15O-HCl and C10H15O-SO4 cannot be considered salts. They are molecules. Salts and Molecules are 2 different types of substances. Methamphetamine is a molecule.

Re: pseudoephidrine sulphate
Blah Blah Blah....
To answer your question,
Prepare a super saturated solution of NaOH by adding NaOH crystals to dH2O until no more dissolves.
Put your purified p.sulphate into a container, add just enough hot dH2O to completely dissolve it.
Now add small amounts of your super saturated NaOH solution to your p.sulphate solute. You will see a milky white visual occurance. Eventually, the p.freebase will precipitate out. Giving you a cottage cheese type consistancy.
Your pH of solution will be above 11 at this point, if it isnt add more to ensure completion.
Now filter out the ppt.
Wash this ppt. to rid it of any excess base.
With dH2O a few times, then dry acetone.
Allow to dry completely.
If you desire the HCl version, add HCl to this freebase, or just use as is.
