Can anyone come up with a simple tyramine synth, or would it be more simple to extract the stuff?

Why? You may ask... Some friends and I are doing a little research into the little known world of 'narcopsychedlia' if you will..

For those who don't know, tyramine is:

4-hydroxylphenethylamine

It is present in many foodstuffs (strong cheese,marmite,fish,red wine, etc) and is responsible for the so called 'cheese reaction'. This is the physiological action behind the old wives tale of 'cheese before bed gives you nightmares'.

Tyramine can be made by decarboxilating the amino acid tyrosine.

I was thinking maybe the Freidel-Crafts ak of raw phenethylamine itself maybe?

The stuff is very cheep, but I havn't yet worked out if tyramine is illegal or not...
