Okay, One Dumb Question and I will leave you all alone.

I have read, researched and understand the rp/i method of making, Heh, Fireeeeee. However, I do not live on some lonely road in the middle of nowhere where I can feel free to blow up my apartment or set fire to the curtains. I also cannot afford one iota of the smell to escape from the baloon as I live in a small apartment in the middle of town. Rp/i, sadly, is out for me. Perhaps someday I get brave enough to try.

NOW, I have, however, purified some ephedrine HCl pills using all the neat methods that I have learned here. Why as we speak, some beautiful pinwheel crystals are forming in the sun on top of my grill. Nice and clear - got the pills from Canada - not too much extra stuff in them - some talc, cellulose - all washed away through some tedious filtering and a standard a/b.

CAN I GET HIGH FROM THESE CRYSTALS? Anyone, anyone?

I looked! I really looked at the search engine. I put in "snort" "ephedrine" "snorting" "toot" everything I could think of. I couldn't find anything.

Why the undo fear of rp/i rnx, smells?.

swim lives in small apt, and have no smells, burn curtains or blown up house?

swims biggest smell problem would lie in drying suse, as evaping den alc is a bit much but 2 small fans and a large one works wonders, as far as the rnx of rp/i swim smells more of the oil bath then anything and does not use a ballon as little pressure is built up during the rnx, a simple locked sandwich bag works nicely.

do not fear the unknown, tread lightly and slowly with knowledge gained in reading and understanding, a simple fume hood is quite easy to produce, swim is a common man not a pro chemist, but can understand many concepts read from several informative sites.

If you got away with the ephedrine extration you should have no worries about the smell of the reaction. As 57 said, there really isn't anything noticeable until the top comes off. And then it doesn't really permeate.

Like I said, I think someday I will try it. I am moving soon into a house (a little more private). What I am doing right now is cat, which as you well know is nothing more than an a/b with another ingred. added.

I am reading and reading and reading. I will not attempt anything until I can recite the method without the paper. So far my only mistake, and it hasn't really been a mistake, it to use TOO much water at the end. It is taking days to evap. and things like little bugs and hairs git in it. I am so worried about supersaturation that I figure more water (coleman's, etc) allows for more freebase to travel and not get stuck in the base or in the colemans - know what I mean? I am doing so little (< 3 Gm) that I can't afford to lose any. So far, with the exception of the drying time, it hasn't really mattered.

What is the least amount of water and colemans I can get away with if say I start with 30 tabs 120mg unclean pseudo (ephedrine total unclean was 1200 mg)? Keep in mind that I am a/b to clean it. I don't like all those solvents hanging around.

Swik dries swik's evap plates in the attic, and covers them with paper towels to prevent crap from getting in them.

SWIL has never had a reaction that ever leaked a "real" odor. Any odor that could be noted, had to be "looked for" and only experience could explain what it was.

Cleaning the precursors(such as Pfed and RP usually causes more of an odor).
