After 12 non polar soak, the acetone was clear, and came back with some red in it, and after evap, left many pinwheels. But the alcohol was cloudy. Would one be able to A/B the acetone wash to find freebase good, or would the providone shit follow?

OK dude, since I'm not there with you, words are the only thing I can use to flash my mind over to your place and visualize what is going on.

Here is what I gathered from your post.

SWIlovinfolly is extracting pseudo. He has done a 12 hour non polar soak and decanted the NP. He then soaked remaining pm in acetone and decanted this into an evap dish to check for stray crystals. Lo and behold there are pinwheels in that damn acetone. He yells out at whoever is closest to him and says, "Didn't I tell you to make sure that damn acetone was dry? How many times do I have to tell you to dry the acetone?" The person getting yelled at quickly walks away and the guy figures what the hell. I have some crystals and some garbage. If I dry it out and pour in some dry acetone (this time he will make sure he doesn't trust someone else to do the important stuff) the garbage will redissolve in the acetone and the pseudo will not. He can filter off the pseudo which is kinda clean (more so than they were anyway) and store them in a dry place ready for the next cleaning stage.

If that is not what happened, I'm sorry for making you read this stupid scenario.

once again i must concur with gota on his hypothesis,,either way just reclean the psuedo with dry acetone and youll get it back--cloudy methanol,,not real good, freeze it for 5 hours and refilter,,use cotton wool down the funnel tube and three brown paper(10 to 12 cup size)unbleached coffee filters,if its not crystal clear then refilter again-----your methanol should be as clean as before you used it, with just rolling lines of clear psuedo oil in it--when it is,evap off the methanol and A/B the mix and your right to go

Well Folly, what can I say that hasn't been brilliantly addressed? I agree with all of it. Switrd has recently become an obsessive compulsive precursor cleaning fool. He has stocked up with filters, cotton and such. He would act as though he had just started the cleaning process....and go from there. Remember, it can never be too clean.
