Default Distilled Water

Is the distilled water that you purchase from the store truely dionized? Do they distillers REALLY fractionally distill it?

The label should have the info you need. If you want to test it, try to run a current through it.

the answer that kman gives, if true, would be close to the only answer you could hope for--by lack of response to this question,,everyone is in the same boat i am,,we have never walked through the factory and made sure they do it,,and unless you can go eyes on, then you can not give a positive response,,,ive found that very little of what the label reads is factually true,,wether it be water to clean reagents nothing is what they say it is,,trust no substance you yourself have not made or checkedand never forget the army motto,,,"when in doubt run away"

I know there cant be any ions within a distilled product. But what if there was another insoluble liquid within the mixture that had a lower boiling point? Wouldnt this carry over if it were not distilled fractionally? The lable of Arrowhead Distilled water only states "prepared by Steam Distallation". Im not quite so sure this is 100% (or 99%) pure D-H20!

Oh, I just noticed a 1-800-873-7775 number on the lable. LOL on the 777. Maybe Jesus is overseeing this operation. Arrowhead even has a website http://arrowheadwater.com . I just drank the last sip, and it taste a lot like how the plastic bottle smells (whop, there goes the 100% purity). I will report back to you all about my inquiry

OK, so I checked out the site. There wasnt any information on the distilled water. But there was more then enough info on their spring water products. I hate spring water. I hate drinking water that isnt 100% pure water. Oh yeah, you might be pleased to know that Arrowhead is a division of Nestle. Well those folk sure make good chocolate milk syrup, and how could you not trust that damn rabbit?

gatorade claims that they bottled water that they produce is one of the purest...would it be false advertisement or sumthing if a company claimed such and it wasn't true?

key words is "one of the purest". This is 100% accurate because most sources produce water that is less pure. All they have to beat is the 50% of the purity of most in order for that fact to be accurate.

Fancy name brands are nothing but trouble. I go with wal-mart brand. Never tastes the way the plastic bottle smells. And no other complaints thus far.

There may bee organic impurities in the bottled water you speak of. As you are right you can distill other things. However they do make sure it doesn't exceed federal standards for impurities so you can be safe in drinking it, and anything you can drink will bee ok to use in synthesis. Some people go way overboad on purity but it is a waste of your time unless you are doing research or analytcal work.

If you want better purity water than distill get reverse osmosis, this also removes organic crap. I use this just because I also buy it in bulk as drinking water.

Reverse osmosis machines are expensive!

And yes you can distill acetone and naptha.

And why the hell would you distill tap water six times? You must not value your time very much!
