I remember reading a post about this but I cant remember where it is...damit i cant find it. My shiiit is maroonish....redish not that dark but id rather have it at least yellowish if not clear.

Is this the sign of iodine and/or red?

Should I cook longer...its been about 50 hrs to try clearing it out??? I filtered and filtered however color still looks the same to me...i just dont want to keep filtering and lose product on filters.

What should I add to it???

Will the a/b extraction help it clear????? I doubt that.

i added ratios of 4.2 eph, 6.4 I2, and 3.5 rp and waited till i thought it was done racting.

the signs i looked for when the reduction should be finished were: the condensation drops on the interior of the bottle thickened and trickled slower than in the begining. Also, when the rp looked as if it seperated out of the mixture to become larger. And the smell seemed sweet but stank about 12 inches from the ballon.



I turned the bulb off, let it cool till room temp and filtered out the leftover rp. i thought the color was just more leftover rp but i filtered 4 more times and color seemed not to change.

The juice is pretty much like oil but colored. I think its Iodine....How do I get it out...should I've cooked it longer to get the color out or is there anything to add to it to help clean it??

It smells sweet on the fingers and oily...is this a good sign??

I'm pretty sure its I2 in there but how to get it out is my problem

Well, well,well. I know a fella who has seen that shit before. When he finally got done with the last recrystallization, some two and a half days later, it was some of the best gogo he had ever had. He patted himself on the back so hard, I had to smack half a jar of deep heating rub on his shoulder.

BUT............

He wasn't such a giggling fool when the reaction was over and he was staring at that purple shit saying, "Oh, shit. What have I done to my beautiful procursors that I worked so hard for?" I thought he was going to cry.

Anyway, I am not going to get into the turbo verion here because I have decided to go ahead and post something with a little more detail that I have been putting off for too long now.

There are, however a few holes in the story that need filling.

1. How much water was in there?

2. It sounds like you did one of those lava lamp reactions. Did you? (if so, 50 hours is going to give you a very good chance at superior quality.)

3. Did you dilute the post reaction mix BEFORE you did your first filtering? How much water did you add?

Let's just start there and see what we can learn. There is nothin to worry bout. If what you called pfed was even half pure pfed, then the low temps and long time probably caused the meth gods to pity you, blessing you with diamonds as long as two conditions are met:

1. you added enough water to the reaction in the beginning.

2.You think, take your time, and exhibit outstanding patience throughout the post reaction workup.

Answering your 3rd question, I didnt dilute the Post product...I wasn't really aware I had to. Dilute with dh2o right? How much water are we talking about here?

I don't have the time right now to do you justice. Goin on a day trip, be back in about 6-8 hours from now.

7mls to 4.2 is about a 1:1.7 (I only used the pseudo for reference because you used a standard 1:1.5 with the iodine) The long time will probably make this alright too. It has been learned that about 1:1 pseudo and water is plenty.

I know for sure that it is possible to do exactly (except for the cleanliness of the precursors. That I cannot say.) the reaction you have done and come out with beautiful, very pure crystals. They look almost identical to the picture that jacked posted at the hive recently. Thats coming out of a post reaction nasty nightmare.

Post reaction fluid must be diluted with five times (minimum) its volume of hot DH2O, then run through a filter (or two coffees with a cotton in the neck, but thats under vacuum.) Dilute it even more when you get funky results that cloud and/or discolor the fluid. Don't worry. You can clean that shit up.

What most people don't understand is all that A/B shit is just the preliminary cleaning stage. The real cleanup is in the recrystallizations. That's why they are called REcrystallizations. If you didn't need them, then crystallization would be the only word you would ever see.

Gotta go. As long as you can handle it, dilute it using hot water, run it through those same filters again, then once more through a new filter and a small cotton not too tightly stuffed in the neck, and let it sit. You'll probably see that its not really maroon. Maybe more like very light purple or toward brown. I'll try my best to get on this as soon as I return.

a non-polor solvent will pull out the nasties, iodine, ect so wash the rxn fluid with np solvent BEFORE raising the ph

As for gottagogo's and all the other chemheads 1ml per gram rule, it is misleading.

Using more 57%HI will reduce the pseudo/effy faster and more thourowly.

Less water does not make the acid stronger, 57% is max amount you can have.

Just tell me one thing. What are the ratios of the other three components when using the stoichiometric amount of water for the reaction? Between you and Oz, curiosity almost killed Swigotta's cat. How about this. How much water would you put in the following rp/i reaction assuming pseudo from pills, iodine from 2% tincture, and rp from matchbooks? Also assume that they were all cleaned to a ridiculous level sacrificing potential high yield in an effort to achieve a very pure product.

pseudo=52g.

iodine= 61g (thats all there was at the time, so change it to what you say is appropriate for this reaction)

rp= (used twice) 36g.

If your number comes out to 109mls. or anywhere near, then you are dead fucking wrong. IT"S TOO MUCH. I don't give a rats ass what the book says, this isn't a controlled laboratory experiment. It's basement chemistry. One to one works and works well. One to two doesn't work worth a shit and you have to cook the shit for a fucking week just to salvage it. This isn't made up bullshit, it is directly observed, and more than once I am sorry to say.

anyways I have diluted the juice with 5-6 times of hot dh2o and set up my vaccum filtration and i followed every direction to the letter....IT CAME OUT LIGHT BROWN....IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER... YEEEEEEES
