In another thread, you mentioned an adulterant in lye that makes it unusable. What is the adulterant?

in the post you originally read it,,,,he spoke of aluminium shavings in the lye and how to get it out,,i gave a few possible methods then told him that a chem rule would say the lye now has an adulterant (being the aluminium shavings) in it and is now unusable

yes it will,,,i spoke of that chem rule so youd realize, if say, your methanol had oil in it youd have to throw it away and buy more--but your lucky with a metal and lye as it wont harm the lye---so yeah--use the lye itl be fine
