friends were given 38grams of supposed pure ephedrine--on sighting it i said its icing sugar,,,taste its a touch salty with a chem taste but not anywhere near bitter,,,i disolved a point in with 1ml of methanol and then evaporated off the methanol,,,,no pinwheel crystals formed and white grains reappeared,,,,any ideas if its ephedrine as i dont think it is

if it dissolved in water then reappered as it was its probably dried sulfuric acid electrolyte. sulfuric acid upon drying of water turns to powder.

water, then drop TWO drops of hcl acid in the water and further eveaporate. you said salty but chemical like. has to be freebase ephed or sulfuric or cut. lemme know when you find out.

well, even if you don't smoke, it might be best to light it up in a pipe. melt it,

really melt it good in some glass, then

let it recrystallize if it does, and look for

pinwheels, or crows foot. if you know what cut is (surely you do) then youll know upon recrystallization that it isnt what you were expecting.

oh yeah, I forgot too, ephedrine freebase

when at a pH below 10 is always soluable in water still, ephedrine and methamphetamine

"freebase" arent un-soluable in water till thier molecules reach a ph of 10 or 11.

So yeah try dissolving some in water then dropping 2 3 or 4 drops in with it (very little water) you can see it reacting if you get it saturated with freebase enough.

I have dripped undiluted Hcl acid into a jar

containing no water and just freebase and NP fluid the drop of hcl bubbles while reaching the bottom of the jar and dissapears.

its ephedrine freebase with a pH of like 8 or 9 that is why it is still dissolving in water.

but phrog,,i disolved a point in methanol and then evaporated the methanol----there were NO pin wheel crystals--or any crystals for that matter

Take all the shit, and put it back into one container(Both solids and liquids). Evaporate with low heat.

Waterless A/B the mass, leaving behind anything unpure. Base to 14 with NaOH, anything with a pH less than 12 will leave a lot of useable product behind.

for those of you wasting your time thinking about what this is,,,dont,,i dont know what it is--but i sure know what it aint, and thats ephedrine----disolved two points into distilled water, disolved instantly, raised ph to 13.3 and nothing came out it just went milky----------tried again, to distilled water i added enough lye to raise ph to 13.3, added two points of the powder and it wouldnt disolve,,,,any ideas

fluff or cut or a sulfate compound.

Drop a small drops of hydrochloric(undiluted) on the powder alone and let it

evaporate then do your dissolvation/crystal formation test by eye.

it could also be your brain on drugs.

Really, the best way to know for sure is to confront the dude in a nice way and let him know something doesn't look right. No problem. Free is free, but it would be good to know if it's usable before I pitch it in the trash.

The chance that it's cut is high. You need to find this out because if it is, you may not want to let your friends buy from this route. There are no friends too good to cheat. Cheaters cheat. Period.

My guess is manitol or inositol. Both will breakdown in water and dry up powdery. I'm not sure, but I believe they don't burn very well. Can't remember.
