I've heard that you need to distill it to get the ether out, but Sluttlaydown will probably say he got four gallons out of one can, and it was firrrrrrrrrrrrrre!!! dude!

No, water cannot be used to seperate ether from brake cleaner or starting fluid. You will lose much of the ether. There was a thread about this very topic quite recently. Damn it I can't find it. Do a quick search.

There it is!! On this very page. Posted by Atome.

Turn the can upside down and spray off the propellants. poke a hole in it and empty into a 2liter 1/2 full of steaming hot water. Shake up a few times and turn it upside down to drain off the water. The clean ether floats.

Orange...I'm afraid you're wrong, again. The last time you posted that method of cleaning ether with H2o it was said that it won't work:---->

You absolutely cannot purify ether with water, there is no way in hell. At best you are just making it wet.

The procedure orange describes actually takes all of the ether out of the starting fluid and evaporates it into the air and what you are left with is oil and water contaminated hexane(which can be bought much cheaper in pure form.

Bottom line: You need a fractionating column and a really cold condenser to purify ether from starting fluid.
