Re: water
Pseudo/ephedrine is indeed polar soluble.
Highly polar soluble.

Re: water
so if I am using pills with a water soluable coating, is there any way to remove it that won't reduce my ephi yield?

Re: water
it would be a lot easier if you told us the pill name,,,,it should come out with other impurities as you wash the pills,,the acetone wash will certainly get it out

first off, they are "Equate", 30mg tabs containing the following inactives {anhydrose lactose, red 40, yellow 6, hydroxpropyl methylcellulose, magnesium sterate, maltodextrin, microcrystaline cellulose, polydextrose, ployethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, triacetin}.
but, since psudo is polar soluable, and the coating is water soluable, won't both be disolved into the acetone?

Re: water
acetone doesnt do much for the red coating for me. sudo isnt soluable in acetone.
if your wanting to wash the coating off, pop some alc. in the microwave until it starts to boil, pour a little over the red pills, swirl around until most (not all) of the coating is removed. pour off the dark red acl.(dont leave pills in acl long, dont want to disolve pseudo) doesnt take much acl. makes filtering much easier.
