Hotplates
What could I use in place of a stirrer if I only had a hotplate and not the combo what can I do?

you would want to use a sort of labratory plastic stirrer, or natural bamboo stirrers with no glues or laquers, and if none of these suit you too well you could alsways swirl your nut sack around in the flask for a while.
