Moles
( Hypothetical equation of elemental compounds to form acids equation)
Can one of you chemist please give me proper mole ratios, in my reductions I use a simple
(1g:1.5g:.7g) ratio measured in grams, unless using hypo of coarse, but is my grammage scale ratios using per gram of iodine, using 1ml per gram, is this a proper ratio in a molar equation that 2 moles 57% HI
reduce 1 mole of epheddrine hcl.
1.5 grams iodine + .7 grams rp + 1ml water =
57%(2 or 3 moles HI) to each gram ephedrine?
Can you please give me a molar estimate on this equation. What is my estimated molar ratio, HI to ephed here.

Re: Moles
1 mole = 6.10 molecules.
can somebody give me an equation to figure out molar ratios in liquids formed from compounds.

Re: Moles
tRee bro, 1 mole is not = 6.1 molecules. However, 1 mole is equal to 602,280,000,000,000,000,000,000 (Roughly) molecules, atoms, or salts of any pure substance or element.. If you can find me the exact chemical formula to the whole reaction mechanism (example: H2 + 3N2 ---> NH3), I would be more then happy to figure out the exact stoichometric amounts for each ingredient. I am also curious myself. I basicly need to know what gets mixed in with what else at which time to figure it out the exact proper stoichometry.

Re: Moles
I believe its: rp+I+h20= PI3 + H3po3 +H3po4,
then, PI3 + rp = I2 + rp +h3po3 +h3po4.
not exactly sure but this seems correct.
Phosphorous triiodide, phosgene, and phosphorous/phosphoric acid are the main phosphate compounds in this reaction,
iodide, iodine,triiodide, and hydrogen iodide
are the main iodate halogens in the reaction.
Since (O)xygen and (H)ydrogen form strong bonds, HI is bonding with O to form = ????
and Hydrogen and oxygen leave the reaction in a form of pure gasses. (very flammable)

Re: Moles
Also when using rehd P its very simple to creaTE your HI in solution first, cap it , then add your material to be reduced.
Evev though most call for adding everything at once.

Re: Moles
looking at that, H2S gas is bubbled through
iodine/water solution to create 2HI and S
well does this same principal work with bubbling HCl gas through an iodine/water
solution? If I drop a ball of foil into a jar of 30% HCl(muriatic) and pipe the gas to bubble through a iodine and water solution will this also create HI acid? probably not
but what do you think.
