I just found a Canadian company that sells pure ephedrine 8mg for "weight loss." Of course it is in a base of all that gak. Would cleaning it, via a/b reaction remove most of the gak? Would it have a bad yield from the milligrammage from whenst it started? Can't you just toot the crushed up ephed? OH, all these dumb ass questions.

I believe you'll need a friend in Canada to mail it to you, well-packaged. You may have trouble with customs if you order directly from the company, which won't issue you a refund when your package is confiscated.

8mg ephedrine weight in a pill is not a lot---youd want real small pills--or the gaak will take most of the ephedrine as you clean it away---wait till you have the pill in your hand--then weigh one pill---then get back to us with what you have

Still doesn't answer my question. If they turn out to be small pills - which they look like they are by the picture - then would a/b method be the easiest was to clean them? I know that there are other ways, but I hate buying all those solvents. Here, where I am, people look at you like, "Yeah, I know what you are doin'!"

By the way and I just may be stupid, but I crunched up a ton of p-ephed and did an a/b with some ether, simple really, but I left all the gak in the jar and just processed with it there instead of filtering it out. Sure it was schmutz and messy but after sucking out all the ether and mixing with water and Hcl and then evap outside in the sun. I got alot of glassy crystals back. I think I may have over done it on the Hcl though, as it smells really strong like Hcl. Anyway to get out that residual acidity? Baking soda would turn it all to salt wouldn't it?

Straight ephedrine is only of any use if you want to take it straight.

If you wish to use it as a precursor for meth, use pseudo. The chiral centre on the beta carbon which is the difference between pseudo and non-pseudo is removed in the synthesis.

run that past me again synth--ive got friends reducing ephedrine hydrochloride by birch and there getting a good result,,with only two acetone washes a methanol extraction and then an A/B with hexane then into the ammonia--there getting back a fine product

Check out curbshot's nano synth at the rhodium.ws site in the chem section. If you scaled that up a bit, and used a hotplate instead of the soupcan stove, you'd probably be able to do what you want.
