Ok, well I already know that the Vick's way is bunk, but which way do most people use?

I'm thinking the red phosphorous method seems to be the way people have gone...but, I was wondering, and not to sound newb, but I've read every synthesis paper on here, the problem is that none have comments as to whether they are the best method...what's the best method that a beginner could use? I have taken some chemistry, I just need to know WHERE and HOW MUCH of stuff I need to get, ya know? Again..sorry.

thats a difficult question as it relates to personal taste--some like blondes with huge tits ,,some like redheads with cute asses--i did the ammonia/sodium metal reduction--i liked it because of its speed,,relative simplicity---they say its dangerous but if you pay attention its quite safe---and for me its easy to acquire anhydrous ammonia and sodiumn metal---perhaps thats a point---most people do what substances they can acquire---some find it easier to get red phos and iodine and have the 30 odd hours to do the cook---some find it easier to acquire ammonia/sodium metal and only have time for the one hour reduction

I live in Alaska next to one of the biggest anhydrous plants in North America...do you think it'd be easy enough to acquire it from there? Or can you buy it??

it depends the bullshit story you tell them---you rent the bottle on a 12 month basis--and buy the gas and refills---i told the gas suppliers i was refitting the airconditioning units on prawn trawlers--and i needed the ammonia to flush the system after repairs before doing an R12 freon fill--or take a walk through the plant--identify where they keep the bottles--watch it one night to check the guards routine and to make sure ronny rottweiler doesnt live there--and go steal some

That may work best, actually. Thanks a bundle....but hey..I have one anhydrous method...which one do you use? I'd rather have a first hand member to tell me than second guess you know?

its my own really learnt over many years---decant 800ml of ammonia for a 2 oz cook--drop in 10 grams of sodium cut into small pieces--wait 3 mins for it to disolve---squirt in the ephedrine and hexane in 10ml increments over 10 minutes--you can squirt a bit faster after the first half is in but be carefull as it can blow back---turn mixer on fastest speed applicable and mix for 20 mins---checking to make sure blue is still visible--if no blue drop in 2 more grams of sodium---after 20 mins quench with dnh2o--allow ammonia to evaporate off--and gas hexane

Ok, I'm not really familiar with all your terms. Do you think you could email me? This is basically going to be my first times doing this, so I don't really know where to get everything I need, and how much...I can probably get the anhydrous ammonia, cleaner, and ephedrine, but I need to know where to get everything else, and also how much I need to use...I hate asking you all this, cuz I bet you get asked a lot...I'm just a really curious newb who wants to learn. Anyway..my email is quad500@hotmail.com Thanks alot.

Also...I'm only going to have access to the ammonia once per 4 months...are there tanks that large if I wanted 10oz per month?

email is sent,,,,10oz per months relates to say 5 litres which includes wastage,,,the smallest tank is 34 litres--which relates to about 60ozs---so yeah you should get enough out of the smallest tank supplied if you dont make a pig of yourself

the place you speak of kirby is the falls at mcneil river and it is in alaska. hey blackjack nice to meet you. if you wanna do the birch reduction then kirby is definitley the one to learn from. SWIM is in the process of putting together a manual of sorts on the I2/RP reduction. SWIM is waiting to get the text from his friend in the big city who is a master of the game. he is moody and hard to deal with so SWIM dont rush him. when SWIM does get the text he will have to go thru the files and translate the gibberish into laymens terms then he will post the method. where is this anhydrous ammonia plant you speak of? SWIM was under the impression that annie would be hard to get here. please enlighten me.

I live near Kenai, Alaska. In Kenai, there is one of the largest plants in the state (Unocal). However, I'm going to get my friend to ship the annie from Juneau because he knows a guy that can probably get it.

Anyway, Thanks Kirby, I'll be emailing you more for the rest.

The birch method is by far the the most forgiving to fuck ups by the newb, but it is seriously dangerous if all safety precautions are not heeded, and that also depends on the access to the annie in your area
