I tried this method as was posted the other day. After I have now evaporated the ethyl off, at the end I was expecting to see some white crystally pseudo, however after using low heat and evaping the ethyl I was left with this corn syrup, clear looking stuff and little of it....ideas?

Also I know that each box contain 2.4 grams of the pseudoephedrine and I weighed the mass of an individual box and it weighed almost 2.4 grams, this was after crushing and using a fine grate to filter out all the shell and exterior junk on the tablets. So after removing this excess through the filter I was thinking that I had removed all the stuff that I was trying to remove by doing all the different cycles of xylene acetone and mineral spirits. After all the sifting or exterior junk contents were 2.4 grams pseudo and after cleaning thats what was left, as the box indicated.

Considering the nature of the lithium/nh3 reactions do the impurities just get left behind anyways? The pill contents are as follows :

Polyethylene glycol

Povidone

I guess the idea in my head is that I could try to use this pill mass as it appears to contain also most exclusively pseudo ephedrine, only problem is the povidone…But maybe birch will eat right around that shit….

well if you did a nice thural clean you used not the best method tho. you should have read just a little more but who em i to say.

it sounds like though after you have done the extraction/cleaning of you pills you over heated them maybe did you see try and regulate you boil????but if your left with caremal like substance thats what it sounds like but..

try and clean it again repeat the process with out any boils just min turp for a little peroid of time check and see.let us know how it goes. gottagogo is really good at these type of questions maybe he can help.

I have used a couple of methods of extraction, but have found the best to be using Heet. The Heet is methanol, or wood alcohol. This is what is suggested in the book "Secrets of Meth Manufacture".

I have never found it necessary to remove the red from the pills. I in fact only use the 60mg pills now, which have no red coating. I also only use the pills that contain no carnuba wax. These can be obtained at Walmart for $3 for 48ct boxes.

I grind the pills in a bean grinder, and add to the alcohol. I cap my container, and shake for about a minute, then allow the binders to settle to the bottom. This takes about 15 minutes. After settled, I then pour off the alcohol through 4 stacked coffee filters, to trap any further binders.

Then I place the filtered alcohol in a pyrex dish and microwave slowly until all the alcohol is evaporated, being careful not to burn the pseudo.

From 500 60mg pills, I net anywhere from 25-28gr of pseudo, using this method. I do usually resoak my pills and repeat the procedure if necessary to get it all.

If you are using the anhydrous method, I have seen people just grind the pills and bust their dope from that with very good success. I dont personally do this, as the quality of the finished product seems to suffer, but people will buy the stuff regardless.

im going to paste my own method i use my yeilds are very good and yours should be good next time you decide to extract. i found this just bye searching and reading and getting comments on it thru the forum.

Grind pills thoroughly. Soak for twelve hours in mineral turpentine. Alternatively soak for twelve hours in odorless mineral spirits, toluene, or xylene. Decant, discard solvent.

Transfer pill mass to suitable shallow bowl or evaporation dish.

Cover to twice its depth in non-polar solvent of choice (recommended solvent: mineral spirits). Place on heating element in a location with adequate ventilation with a fan blowing across the top of the container. Heat slowly with continuous stirring until the solvent reaches a gentle boil; adjust heat to maintain a gentle boil, with constant stirring, for five minutes. Remove from heat. Decant solvent. Use “panning” motion to separate as much solvent as possible while retaining pill mass. Alternatively, filter the solvent and pill mass through three coffee filters; retain pill mass, return to dish. Examine filtered solvent. It should be cloudy.

Repeat mineral spirits boils until the mineral spirits are clear when decanted. Test the clear, decanted mineral spirits by adding water; if anything precipitates out with the addition of water, repeat mineral spirits boil until the solvent is clean when decanted. Expect three boils to be necessary; dirtier pills or poor technique may require additional boils.

Cover the pill mass with three times its volume of dry acetone. Slowly bring to a gentle boil, with constant stirring. Boil for five minutes, allow to settle, decant. Continue with acetone boils until the decanted acetone is clean. Test for contaminants by adding water to decanted acetone and observing whether adulterants precipitate out. If so, continue acetone boils until acetone until it decants clear without adulterant precipitating with the addition of water. Expect three boils to be sufficient, depending on pill content and operator technique.

Allow pill mass to dry thoroughly.

Transfer pill mass to beaker or glass container of sufficient size to allow the addition of at least three times the pill mass’ volume of alcohol of choice. MeOH and/or denatured alcohol are recommended alcohol's. EtOH may be used if dried. Isopropyl alcohol may be used if dried. Allow pill mass to soak with agitation or stirring for twenty minutes.

Prepare a funnel by placing cotton balls in the neck of the funnel and fitting the funnel with three coffee filters. Decant alcohol from pill mass through three coffee filters and allow to drain into a clean glass container.

Return pill mass to beaker and repeat step 6, except the time for soaking should be reduced to ten minutes. Decant as before.

Soak pill mass a third time as in step 6, except decant after five minutes. (Save pill mass until final yield is determined to be satisfactory).

Place collected alcohol in evaporating dish and evaporate over very low heat, with a fan or hair dryer blowing across the surface until almost completely evaporated. Flood with dried acetone. Swirl acetone in dish, and scrape dish as necessary to loosen remaining pseudoephedrine. Decant acetone (or filter through three coffee filters.) Allow to dry.

Heat dried ISO alcohol to boiling. Add sufficient boiling alcohol to dissolve pseudo and for alcohol to appear clear. Filter through three coffee filters. If alcohol solution remains cloudy, filter through three coffee filters and Charmin plug. Rinse filters with small amount of fresh alcohol. Reduce volume of alcohol in evaporation dish at until first signs of crystal formation appear. Add just enough alcohol by drops to dissolve surface skin, add equal volume of dry acetone, cover with air tight lid or saran wrap, place in refrigerator.

Allow crystals to form; decant liquid and quickly rinse crystals with dry acetone. Add rinse acetone to remaining liquid and evaporate down to saturated alcohol, add acetone, and allow crystals to form again. Rinse these.

Combine crystals. Re-dissolve in boiling alcohol and repeat crystallization. Harvest final crystals.

REMEMBER THE TIME AND EFFORT OF YOUR EXTRACTION IS GOING TO YEILD THE BEST RESULTS SO BE PATIENT.

The yellow bottles of heet are methanol, but the red bottles are isopropanol. If that's all you're doing to clean the pills, then you're making and selling crap.

if you soak your piils in methanol to extract

you have to add a tiny bit of muriatic to the methanol, about 1 cup methanol and 4 tablespoons HCL will succesfully extract psuedo with povidone without the povidone coming with the sudo. This 1 cup 4 tablespoon method will extract about 60 crushed pills. The evaporated dish will then

be put through an A/b process wicth will clean the rest of the phed to greatness.

that method was stated for the sudafed 60mg 30 per pak---did the pills you use have antihistamine or paracetamol in them---it sounds like it--try 3 hot acetone washes--and dont forget acetone boils whilst still cool to touch--get the acetone scalding hot and hold there for 3 mins--pour in more caetone if to much evaps off

Hello, no those pills didnt have any of that shit in them. Im seriously thinking about just going to reduction without the refining of the pills as the one I have are pretty clean. And besides that Im just going to screw around and do a little experimenting as that is the best way of getting a system down... I have heard,actually not heard but read that nh3 method will just birch right around any bs that might be left in the pill mass, although it may cause quality to suffer .....
