hey guys muh iodine crys hook ran off..i need to get the ratio for tinture 7% iodine to peroxide n how long to put it in the freezer n ne other tip u may have would help maybe we can trade tip for tip please help imma dread n will make sure u get something in return maybe not tangible but knowledgable!!! thanx yall much love n respekt form abstrakt X!

1p tinc, 25ml HCL,500ml DH20, 1p H202....stir, sit 4 hours

Do some research.

1 pint 7% iodine

3 pints 3% h2o2

12 ml hcl, 31-37%

Into a empty 3 liter, combine the iodine, and h2o2. Then add hcl. Let get hot and react. Filter out crystals, and wash in distilled water. Wash until you are sure it is clean, and then do it twice more. You will have clean crystals, that way.

Then dry with dampgone in a dark place. Keep dark. Dry very well.

The reaction takes about 30 min. Or a tad longer.

STIR WELL, LET IT SIT, GIVE IT ATLEASE 4 HOURS.

Decant the fluid into another jar and rinse out the crystals in the bottom of the first jar real well, 5-6 times with lots of swirling. I filter through a piece of bedsheet and get all the crystals in there and mash real well, dry good, transfer to fresh coffee filters, put in a jar that has epsoms salts (dried) in the bottom, put a folder paper towel in, the sit the crystals on top. Try to dry the crystals as best you can to start..but come back and change the coffee filters after about four hours, the next day, etc...after two changes, the I2 is generally dry. If you react them still wet, use 1.5 gm instead of 1.2 and decrease the water in the reaction by 20%.

Leave the solution in the second jar, add about another 125 ml of peroxide and let sit until the next day. You will get another batch of crystals, up to 25% as much as before, usally about 10%.

Works fine. On a good batch you can get up to 50 gm of I2 from a pint. Usually you will get 43-46 gms. A lot better than the one ounce I used to get with three bottles of peroxide.

That is a great yield, there. I have seen not quite as much, but maybe...That is a good point to ponder.

ok heres the deal on the above iodine extraction technique. it needs to set 12 hours NOT 4 to get back optimum yields. thanks to geezmiester for the technique also geez has said that the peroxide can be backed off even more but he isnt sure yet on how much so SWIM tried this two days ago.

1 pint 7% tinc (16OZ)

12 OZ peroxide (3/4 of a pint)

25 ML muriatic

500 ML DH2O

pour into gallon glass jar your tinc, acid, and DH2O. slowley add peroxide stirring constantly. let set 12 hours. after the first pull is done add another 125 ML of peroxide let set as long as you can SWIM let second pull set 24 hrs. he got a total of 48 grams but its not quite dry yet it is really very very close tho and SWIM is sure it wont lose over 3 grams maximum is why he decided to post the results here even tho it is not quite dry. SWIM will post any updates that are deemed important. SWIM hopes the rest of you bees will also post your results wether good or bad.

oh and folly, the reason the yields came up with this method is due to the oxidizer (peroxide) being backed off from 3 pints to 1 pint and a longer setting time (12 hrs).

and not to be a dickhead here but you told someone to do some research in an above post. i hate when people tell people that shit. had you followed your own advice and done research you would know of the revised method and the greater yields. when everyone thinks like that it keeps the info kinda suppressed. the search engine on totse sucks as well so if you can help someone then help them. it takes the same amount of time to type "do some research" as it does to copy and paste the info from an archived text file. just a thought, peace

Swims friend did two iodine extractions on two 1L bottles of 2.5%. Worked no problems at all. But the next two didn't, swim might of got lazy but it stays red, adding dH2O or HCL-acid has no effect, but bleach takes the color out (zapping it in the microwave brought a lot of it back). Can they be "saved"? He'd rather do that than fuk a third litre. Read his redp post if you want to. Quote "Do It Properly Saves Hassle In Time..."
