friends have been at me awhile to have this explained----after the ammonia/sodium metal reduction,,quenched with dnh2o,,ammonia evaporated off,,the contents of the reduction vessel is filtered and the hexane holding the meth is taken to be gassed,,,,this leaves in the filter a soapy white substance,greasy to touch, high in meth content---in previous attempts to obtain this meth,,,it has been washed twice in toluene and then attempt at crystalized but failed,,,,2 acetone washes then attempt to crystalized but failed,,,,A/B extraction then attempt to crystalize but failed,,,2 toluene washes and the extraction by methanol,evaporate methanol then attempt to cystalize but fail---placed in beaker with 400ml of hexane heated and mixed for 40mins then gassed but failed,,,44magnum pointed at it with verbal abuse then attempted crystalization and failed,,,books tell me that for every gram of eph going into the reduction 6ml of hexane is required as i thought maybe there not putting enough hexane in for all the meth to kick into,,,the lads are doing 100gram birches and getting 45 grams into the hexane to be gassed then fighting this soap for the other 55grams---when they dry this soap over a hot plate on a glass dish it drys to a nice white powder and then when cooled it returns to a 70% treacle like liquid and 30% soft soapy substance-------they wish to know an easy way to get the meth out of this soap and crystalize it,,,,any ideas would be gratefully accepted,,,thanks guys

There is the distinct possibility that reading this post will be a complete waste of your time. Nevertheless, I had to tell you about something similar I have seen. Swigotta doesn't birch, he rp/i's. He dosn't gas, he titrates.

There was a time in which he wanted to try gassing since it eliminates the evapping of water, which takes forever. I began reading up on the subject and saw that most of the techniques were so ghetto that they weren't worth my time to alter and attempt to perfect. I was skipping around at the hive and accidentially ran across a totally labware equipped technique that was very well written and detailed. I think it was by Argox, but I cannot be sure.

Anyway, it used dry isopropyl alcohol as the storage matrix and that intrigued me. It stated that shelf life was excellent with very little degradation and exact calculations could easily be determined by weighing the iso before and after to determine the % of hcl gas present.

You really didn't neede to know all that, sorry. It's all true by the way. There is still a flask in the freezer that will make a nice circular pit in the concrete with just one drop.

Here's what happened when it was used. The ole grouch dripped the calculated amount into the beaker of naptha goodie and the meth began to "flake" out of the solution. When it looked like one of those snow globes you shake up, he poured it into the filter (he may have rinsed it with dry acetone, but I am not sure. Whatever he did it was according to the general consensus at that time) What was left in the filter was white, flakey, but had a dry but somewhat soapy texture. It burned, but not like he had seen before. Like you say, the shit was in there, just not alone.

I will search for the notes on that little glint in time. The gas was put away and neither of us ever even thought about it again until recently I found a post that describes its use in more detail.

Maybe someone can tie the two together and give you a simple solution.

yes i hope so cause your post hasnt told me dick really--just confused me more---the problem isnt the gassing--thats fine--its the meth not being kicked into the hexane,,and being left in the white soapy greasy substance////im asking how to get it out of the white soap and how to crystalize it,,,if i have to get it into the hexane and gas it then how do i do that as well
