I have this dream (dont we all) would crystalline iodine (active ingredient 99.5% iodine) be better than tinc for produceing crystals

no, 2.5 percent iodine is better than 99.5

percent iodine when a chemical reaction calls for pure iodine(crystalled).

I would even suggest using 1 percent iodine when you need pure iodine.
