Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
Hey guys, swim was wondering how swim would go about getting anne out of a big tank into a new propane tank, swim knows the idea of it, but does swim need a certain kind of hose that will work and what sort of fittings are on the end of the annie tank swim doesnt really want to sneak around more than once to find out for himself if swim can find the answer here. Thanks guys

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
sorry mate,i use to get mine from boc gases on account--truck delivered them to the front door in 34kilo bottles--but--what we use in the diving industry for gas transfer between bottle and chamber--or bottle to divers control panel--or compressor to divers control panel--are made to order stainless steel braided, high pressure, flexiquip, polypropelene, high tensile hose---youll find it in any hydraulic supply house ---as far as the fittings go---maybe the right hose to---find out who supplies these tanks and go to there head office and look in the spares department---youll find its a standard fitting able to be used on any size tank--ask the desk clerk--or ask for there fact sheet on the size tanks they have available----you dont have to say its ammonia--pick another gas like propane or whatever gas that suits your bullshit---thinking about it though--your going to have to take what fittings and hose you do buy and check it against the tank to be sure you have the right one--(first check ronnie rottweiler isnt in residence)--then jump the bloody fence measure her up so you get it right first time---and decanting from one tank to another---and that being a propane tank--id wanna be bloody sure propane doesnt leave a residue thats going to root the ammonia--so clean the tank if you can--back to the decant---sure you can cross plumb them--get your tank lower than the mother tank--have the bleeder valve open--and switch the sucker on--id be wearing my scuba tank whilst doing it--when you see liquid ammonia coming out the bleeder--turn off mother tank--tighten bleeder--close your tanks main valve--disconnect your transfer hose--gather it all up and bugger off--the 34 kilo tanks i use to get were the smallest available--and id like to see you jump the fence with that--was a heavy bugger--oh yeah, before you go flogging some poor sods ammonia--clean your house out--nothing worse than getting nabbed for a misdemeanour only to see it turn into felony cause you have sodium metal or another precursor at home--goodluck--and when in doubt--run away

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
Thanks a million! swim will do more research first, but going and asking desk clerks wont fly around here, small small small town, everybody knows you and your dog... this is gona be a covert opperation. If swim were to go ask someone, the clerk would be like, well swim, this and that, hows your mother been.. da da da.. i'll just do some sneaking first.. but thanks for the advice again. so i guess a garden hose wont work huh, lol. oh and what is this bleeder, some sort of overflow valve or something?

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
oh i forgot, the transfer hose from mother tank to portable tank,,,,,,must be straight, no kinks,,loops or other hindrances---just in a gentle slope down to portable tank--you get a loop or kink in it and the flowing ammonia will not run freely, this may not affect it but it might,,,i dont know,,,lets just avoid finding out

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
bleeder valve--should be on the top rim of the tank--it allows you to empty the tank before filling---and allows the tank to fill with out pressure building up---shows you when its full as it overflows---your tank mighten have one--no biggy if it hasnt---and itl be obvious ---if you cant see it then it aint there---and maybe go to another town and check out the same companies spares section---and if your going to play bobby burglar and check fittings to get the right size--do you know what your looking at--thread size, fitting sizes, so on

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
I've heard that propane tanks used to store annie need to have stainless steel valves, for the annie will dissolve the brass ones.

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
yes thats true--ammonia will eat the balls off a brass monkey--you can get away with it for awhile--but you must watch it carefully--if it fails in the wrong place--like in the car while transporting it-- confined space and ammonia, need i say more---so while your buying/flogging the stainless female fittings for the hose--buy/flog the bottle male fitting ---check the on/off valve as well and make sure its not brass--if it is, replace that too--goodluck

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
hi pikk,
one would hope your name has nothing to do with your nose or other orifices,,,why cant you post your way--and just out of curiosity, what is your way???---i presume your not talking about stealing little annie from down the road but about the eye watering nose tearing gas that appears so popular--and i must concur with you--apart from this theft normally occuring in the US where farmer bob has been known to have anything from a 50cal on the roof to,at least, the trusty winchester pump action in hand --if this ammonia theft continues then it will show the federal departments the real need to begin forcing the ammonia manufacturers to introduce into the gas additives that are going to bring the birchers to a screaming halt--and rest assured you dont want that--so think of another way please---good luck

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
it is like this get some good rubber gloves and a good mask now take the s/s valve out of your tank . got it good . now get a funnel open the valve on the mother tank slowly if you got the right valve only lq will come out it will fill fast close mother tank then put your s/s valve back in your tank .all this can be done before you get that damn hose hooked up .
like i said dont try this . not for the weak of heart.
yep pikk is one stuiped fuck . but i cant tell him that.

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
Ok, you know those plastic caps they got on the tanks when they are not being used?? snatch one up, you can drill a hole in it and put a threaded piece threw it. Now you can hook it up to anything...

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
pikk,
on the 8th day, god made some ann. he wanted to create enough to share with man. god then wondered if he could unscrew the whole valve, pour the liquid in then screw the valve back on? would that store gods homemade waterless wine?

Re: Pikk, Kirby, Any birchers
some say you can,,,,,ive never done it,,,,and when ive cracked that valve there appears to be quite a pressure there---christ knows what it is like to let all that pressure out and let it flow,,,ive always liked the clandestined slow trickle fill using male to female connectors with transfer hose
