Non-Polar Solvent
Swims friend is looking at this
slacker reaction" in the end you have to use a np, which np is the best for the cleanest, highest quality dope, if it even matters. but swims friend assumes it does. swims friend is already using clean rp/i/e. so why ruin it with using dirty other stuff. so swims friend would really appreciate the input.
also, ive heard of distilling colemans. is this possible, and is it the best np?

Re: Non-Polar Solvent
you ask 50 swimmers and theyl all proffess different thoughts on this subject--and different pills mean different concoctions---tell us whats in the pills--i use a turps soak to help unbind--toluene to heat and absorb--acetone for sugars--experience and experimentation--the spice of life

Re: Non-Polar Solvent
Actually, kirby was asking for inactives for YOUR benefit. Be careful how much attitude you include in your post when it comes to inputting information necessary to answer you questions.
I believe the question was in regard to post reaction workup. If so, here is a little something to think about.
If heating, or kerplunking as it is sometimes referred to as, VM&P Naptha is best. It has a good mix of hydrocarbons that are well suited for this purpose. Toluene and xylene are very similar, but xylene evaps. more slowly and is a bit lazier when pulling. Swigotta enjoys using either xylene or VM&P Naptha.
Any mixture of nonpolars, especially those in which a high quality, pure product is not necessary, is acceptable only when there is absolutely no availability of pure solvents. It is well worth your time and trouble to find pure solvents even if it means you have to do some driving.
