Ask for 'spirits of salts' , you should find it.

These guys are hardware stockists, not chemists. Over here, all that asking for murry does, is draw confused looks!!

EDIT: LBM is right, I imagine you need this stuff cos you're trying to clean some brickwork? Right?

Ok.

These regional terminologies can be quite confusing!!

Over here, murry is unheard of.

But the dude ain't over here, so he should probably accept the local advice!

Hey, do you know what kind of label the UK equivalent of Muriatic Acid comes under? I'm having a right mission finding any. UK stuff seems to be labeled really badly in terms of actual chemical contents. Deliberate you think?

I believe one would need it to produce HCL gas for production of the crystalline hydrochloride salt of meth in the HI/RP reduction?

ok--i drip sulphuric acid into hydrochloric acid--this gives me the right gas--others drip hydrochloric acid onto salt--this gives them the same gas--others--like you--use muriatic acid--it all depends whats easiest for the individual to acquire

Muriatic acid and hydrochloric acid are the same thing-muriatic acid is just the old name.

K-man, MAsa,

man if you guys would stop smoking so much msm youd know what your talking about.

unpolitical correction.

Muriatic acid is 31.45% hydrochloric gas in water at 31.45%.

Hydrochloric acid is HCL and water.

Muriatic acid is a hardware/pool cleaning

liquid that eats minerals and metals and brick and masonry and rock.

Muriatic acid is the name used for 30% HCL acid. Instaed of walking around and seeing

a bottle of Hydrogen chloride, you see muriatic wich is hydrogen chloride in water.

dude back off the pipe already.

Damn frog! What the hell did you just say.

Murry is a slurry and hcl can go to hell.

If you want to kill the floater in the pool

don't be a fool

throw in some thirty one point forty five

not much longer will that turd be alive.

Yo!

C'mon dude. The way you talk down to everybody like they're (I guess I mean we're) not even intelligent enough to keep you amused, I would think you could do better than play ring around the rosie with the hcl/murry thing.

You're funny, dry but funny; and you're smart, but not that smart. Chemistry is not the only subject here. Try to be a little more rounded; evenly distributed. How about maybe trying to explain something to someone on their terms and their level. That takes smarts.

OK, sorry about that. Now, what the hell was I going to say?

Oh, yeah.

In AZ, missy would be correct, but you don't really have to play dumb. Dilute hydrochloric acid is used for lots of different things. It will etch your concrete as well as keep your toilets running smooth. (You may need some sulphuric for tree roots, though.)

Hey Kirby, did you switch the words around in the gas production post? Wouldn't you want to drip the hcl into the sulphuric in order to draw the water from the hcl thus liberating the gas?

Well, anyway folks, hcl in sulphuric for hcl gas production and make sure you keep that sulphuric moving. Pooled hcl with water in it can cause a really cool volcanic eruption in the ole sulphuric flask if you're not careful.

On second thought, don't try hcl by way of sulphuric until you read up on it quite a bit.

Nasty, nasty stuff.

hi gogo, friends have always dripped sulphuric into hydrochloric---it seems to work fine ---i must admit you have to let the sulphuric drip for 60secs before the gas is really pumping--and to be honest i do not know the theory behind it --just that it works--any thoughts???

Ouch! Bill. I hope froggy is careful. The ole pvc and barbed wire thing sounds like something you would probably like to use to clean a frogs lower intestines with.

Kirby--

Read up on gassing isopropyl alcohol using sulphuric acid to liberate to hcl gas. It is the ultimate if you like to gas. The isopropyl alcohol acts as a storage system for the gas and it is easy to calculate how much gas is in each ml of liquid so if stoichiometry is desired, accurate amounts can be administered exactly.

Try dripping the hcl into the sulfuric. Just make sure the sulfuric is constantly stirred to prevent pooling. You will be pleasantly suprised by the increased efficiency of the system.

all alcohols are banned down here (indiginous population problem) except for methylated spirits which is locked away and must be asked for----friends use hexane as my solvent in the sodium/ammonia reduction--not withstanding that---friends shall certainly reverse friends gas generator and try out your drip hydrocloric into sulphuric----i shall endeavour to read aforementioned subject and thanks for the hint on gassing--may your platypus always bring the trout to your door and never to its burrow
