hi,
Is necessary it to put a stopper (cotton or glass)on condenser for the backward flow rxn soution ?
or uses normally without stopper !?

Re: Use stopper condenser !
hello atome good to hear from you--depending on the size of the condenser and or its length--depending on what your actually reacting--the majority of solution will cool and run back down--yes a stopper will make sure all of it is returned--but the pressure build up might get you if you dont have a digital readout showing pressure in the bowl--and they come with there own glass end plug--replace it if it isnt there-get back to us on those questions listed

Re: Use stopper condenser !
GREETINS FELLOW DREAMERS!
SWIDOMI has learned a large durable, punching ball, type balloon afixed to the to of his reflux condensor works very well as a pressure inicator as well as to stem any strange oldors that might alarm others.
Yeah, i guess its "GUETTO STYLIN" but was suggested by those in the know and has proven to do the job!

Re: Use stopper condenser !
yes it is atome--the ballon compensates for the pressure--just make sure the solvent your using doesnt eat the rubber of the balloon

GREETINS FELLOW DREAMERS!
Actually,SWIDOMI doesn't use any type solvent or "np" in his rxn!??
Just the basic three ingredients and a measured amount of DH2O.
Is swidomi missing something here!?

Re: Use stopper condenser !
hi raptor,i dont understand your question--dont you put your eph in with a solvent, so when reduced the eph is kicked into the solvent and easily gassed

Re: Use stopper condenser !
Sorry SWIKIRBY, actually swidomi puts eph,I2,&rp in vessel, allows reaction to convert contents, then he does a/b with solvent no solvent in vessel.

Re: Use stopper condenser !
ok,i do the A/B on the eph, with hexane,to take the eph when its kicked out of the distilled water-----then eph and hexane goes into the reduction vessel--as the eph is reduced it is turned into a liquid which is absorbed by the hexane---i then filter the hexane with gas that is a combo of sulphuric and hydrochloric acid--this precipitates the meth out of the hexane as a fluffy white powder

Re: Use stopper condenser !
just rereading what i wrote--i filter the hexane--------and then i gas it with the acids

Re: Use stopper condenser !
After one hour my balloon is perforated
can one use a pipe which one plunges in water at the end of condenser ??
