Re: birch- lithium batt.
hi cheesy, no ones answered your post so i thought id have a stab--i dont have a clue how much lithium would be in there--you could guage it on how big it looks compared to what you get out of an AA batt(.94grams i think)--i dont see that youd need much more than this visual reference--when friends birch they make every attempt to insert only the right amount of sodium/lithium in the ammonia for the eph to be reduced, yet realize that to little is worse than a bit to much--if you keep your ammonia mix blue and well stirred for the 20 minutes of the reduction, and then quench with distilled water(50ml to 100ml is ample)this will halt any further reduction and nullify any sodium/lithium left over--i hope this helps--good luck

Re: birch- lithium batt.
ok check it out- I believe that my friend used to use thae same 245's. And if I rem. correctly they are 1/2 of a aa. You gotta go by the volts. Aren't aa's 1.5V? I think so. Anyway I rem. her saying that she used 8 245 cells for an oz. of product where she uses 4 aa's for the same. HTH's!
Whoa!!! I just read you said 6V. Sorry! I was thinking the little 245's from Wally-World, where there are like 2 cells wrapped in one solid piece of black plastic. I don't rem. those being 6V. But then it's been awhile since I saw her. Probably just added to your confusion didn't I? I would go by the volts though. And I DO believe that aa's are 1.5V. As I said earlier.

Re: birch- lithium batt.
From my experience the ratio for lithium to pseudo base is 1ea AA for each 3gr of base.
The 245 batts contain two 123 batts inside a plastic case with a jumper between the two batts. The ratio for 123 batts is 1ea 123 to
6gr of base. Hope this helps

Re: birch- lithium batt.
Yes, i have read that quality sodium can be used but it requires about 4o% more to make the reaction, and make sure it isnt old and crumbly. Also sodium is a lot more dangerous, best to just get some aa lithium batts.
