Red Devil Lye Replacement
In reference to the thread asking for a substitute for Red Devil Lye, may I humbly offer Sodium Carbonate. How would one find sodium carbonate? Well, the easiest way to do it is to bake Baking Soda in the oven that is wet from mixing water in it to a paste. Once dry, the sodium bicarbonate has become sodium carbonate. The beauty of sodium carbonate is it's inability to overbasify any meth making substance. No matter how much one uses, it will not base any further that 12pH.

Re: Red Devil Lye Replacement
For how many of you dreamers has sodium carbonate worked for. Id like to know, just to expand my knowledge about the whole synthesis, and ways to do it.

Re: Red Devil Lye Replacement
You could but it is more expensive and why not just go to the store and buy a couple of pounds of sodium carbonate? Why spend money and time making something that is easy and cheaper to obtain?
Caustic is cheaper anyways and that is why it is used, plus you can't really overbassify when extracting.
