Simple process extraction ephedrine base.

Ephedrine is extracted with cold benzene in the presence of diluted sodium carbonate. The benzene extract is extracted with dilute hydrochloric acid and the acid solution of the alkaloids clarified. After adding enough solid potassium carbonate to the acid solution, the alkaloids are extracted with chloroform. This solution is concentrated, dried over sodium sulfate, and evaporated to dryness. Ephedrine has been separated from pseudo-ephedrine by means of the oxalate, the ephedrine salt being much less soluble in cold water. Ephedrine can be purified by means of steam distillation.

The output of ephedrine can be poor ???

I don't know why you'd use chloroform, and non-polar solvents will not effective remove anything from a pill but the gov't denaturants.

EXTRACTION PROCEDURE:

Mix isopropyl alcohol(91 or 99%) with naphtha 50/50 and dry both solvents thoroughly with baked epsoms salts. Boil pills with this solution & remove from heat. Let sit for a while (30 to 60 minutes or more) Separate this solution from the rest of the pillstock & boil to 105 degrees celcius. At that time the pseudo will crash out of the naphtha & you can filter it with a #6 coffee filter in a 2 liter tea pitcher. Repeat until you've gotten 90% or better out. Each box of pills (48 60's or 96 30's) SHOULD net you 2.88g of pseudo for reference sake. BTW, the 120s only net you 2.4g.

i use diggers methylated spirits95% to draw the eph out of the pill base--methanol works well
