one of the birch recipes in rhodium states 2.57 strips of lithium per ounce of product to be reduced--a friend found that 12 grams of sodium metal reduces 60 grams of product with the ammonia going clear at about the 20 minute mark making the water quench unneeded--does anyone know wether that lithium figure is correct--if not--what is the correct figure---thank you

Re: amounts
1 aa bunny strip per 7g of sue. aa bunny strips are said to have .92g of Li,(some say .94; i'm not for sure). On the sodium i think it is 1.25g per 7g of sue, without looking for my journal it's tooooo eary in the morn where i'm at. Be careful with the sodium, it gets wicked. Add it in SLOW, it will jump right back at you if you get in a hurry.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Re: amounts
Morgan, yea the 7-1 is pretty much on every chem site, lots refer to Mr. clean, Fester and others as stating the 7-1 ratio.
Swim has conversed with swirl and figured that in swirl's dreams a 6-1 is used (1 strip per 100(60's)). But to obtain a little more boost, as well as to adjust for unknown or unwanted additives swirl goes for a 1.25 strip per 100 or 30 strips per 2400 (144g). To little li won't work, to much is to much. Swirl has found a happy middle.
Swirl dreams of birching with, fresh from a 2000 gal mother tank annie. Swirl uses the aa bunnies and doesn't care if the sue comes from 60's or red 30's, they get the gull which becoming not so idea. Lookin to go str82e. If swirl plays with SM, swirl stays with the 1.25, this shit is wicked but sweet.
Swim is in no means claiming that this will work for everyone. Swirl has been doing it this way for years and it seems to work for swirl. Return is around 70% (swirl says 100g return or swirl' pissed) but usually it is 77%. Thats when swirl grins and says "Load that bowl and let it roll and DON'T whistle MY stick" lol, a little home saying about hard hitters on the glass.
Hope this helps swiM with their dreams.!!!!!!!!!!
