some ideas please---im doing the birch with sodium metal---im using the formula of 6mls of solvent for every gram of eph that i put in--im finding i only get about 45 grams going into solution ---the rest is being left as a white mass that is rather soapy but is still obviously high quality meth--i have washed this in toluene and have a lovely golden coloured syrup--do i gas this syrup--what do i do

A better description, please. SWIL doesn't even birch, but it sounds like SWIM is having a/b problems.

Please describe what SWIM has done more clearly, so that someone may help.

no the a/b extraction is going fine--after the eph has been reduced it should be kicked into the solvent for gassing--only 45 grams are going into the solvent--the rest is left at the bottom of the reduction vessel---im asking what i do with this--at the moment im cleaning it with toluene to a golden coloured syrup--do i now gas it or what????

that didnt sound right--ill try again--after the eph has been reduced to meth and the ammonia has evaporated off--the meth should of been kicked into the solvent for gassing---only 45 grams has--the rest is left in a soapy substance--i wash that leaving a golden syrup--do i gas that or what???

SWIFG would think seperate what you can and if still unsure gas everything if need be to feel confident in a dream. Just be sure to keep everything seperate. Def not the most efficient way on many levels but could allow for "peace of mind" also HCL onto Sulfuric seems the best in SWIFG's opinion.

Yes you gas the yellow non polar. Everything that doesnt' dissolve in the non polar is either meth salt(add dilute NaOH and re extract) or an inorganic salt.
