I've asked this question before and never had anyone answer: I use the Wal-Mart ph strips and thier indicator only registers so high...So how can I more "acurately" determine a ph of 14?

Also, I've read a couple of different places about using processed salt rock as a drying agent, anyone fluent with this process?

Lastly, My I2 crystals work just fine, but I wpuld like to know if anyone has suggestions on further refining them...They're fine as is, but if they could be better....that would be uh...better.

Thanks!

When the aqueous layer(bottom) stays milky white, and will not clear within minutes...

one can assume that a pH of 14 has been obtained. At least if using NaOH.

It doesn't sound too scientific, SWIL agrees, but it works.

Also, when those strips hit bright purple and bubbles are streaming into the Non-polar layer(top layer).

Hey Shooter, Swis can't offer much info on the salt or I2, but try looking for a digital

PH meter on the web. They are fairly

inexpensive( $15.00 to $20.00 ) They are very accurate from 1 to 14!
