Longer cooking time?
The general rule of thumb for the HI/RP reduction of E, for the most common synths is 150-180 for around an hour. LukkyD suggested to me that I leave the chili on heat at 180 degrees for upwards of 36 hours. I'd like to try this but for closer to 3-4 hours only. Does anyone have any input on this? I would assume you would need a bit more Dh2o, but I don't know that for sure.
Also if this method is known to produce good results, why would the average recipe call for only 45 mins. to an hour, or until the push completes then turn off heat? Is it the time factor? I would think that the average time/temp on the average synth would be dictated by what time/temp produced the best product, not how quickly you finished. Any input would be greatly apreciated.

Re: Longer cooking time?
First and foremost the part you are leaving out is that most of the people writing recipes and bragging about yield on this site are LYING.
This particular reduction mechanism takes time to do a full conversion. Think about it. The ephedrine must first be converted into an intermediate, then the final product. I am not a chemist and do not desire to learn all the tedious details of exactly how the reaction works, but I have read enough to know that as a general rule there is no such thing as a short, hot, COMPLETE reaction. The whole push pull bullshit was invented by tweakers, not chemists. I have read posted results from those whom I believed, and still do, were credible, boasting about 85% return of some smooth, long legged meth from their pseudo and they did the whole thing in about an hour at 150C. I cannot dispute or refute their claims. I do know this. If you are having trouble with that method, YOU NEED TO HEAR WHAT I'M SAYIN'.
IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR YOU. THAT METHOD, FOR MOST PEOPLE, DOES NOT WORK!
Read the following repost a few hundred times like I did. If it doesn't help, then I'm afraid nothing will. It was written by Osmium, who is quite intelligent. Unfortunately he is a real asshole most of the time. Arrogant as hell. Then again, most really smart people are.
On second thought, let's give it it's own thread. Go back out and look for it.

Re: Longer cooking time?
gotta is right, provided your measurment are right for 54%HI acid and you have a(or 57%)
catylist (RP(+3)///////////////////////////
Your sshiyt should be cooked once, cooled
and cooked again. A lot of these people
are suggesting a Physical science truth by means of guessing or a non-tested theory.
