Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
Hey guys...Got a question here... Swirh recently came into being of some large Nalgene bottles and was thinking of making up some dry STE liquids... Will the Xyl or M E K or even Nap for that matter eat Nalgene. Swirh only has a few of these babies and wouldn't want to waste them as well as the contents. Jus wondering if anyone has experimented with these. If no one has... could someone clue Swirh into the best method to bulk store these? Swirh could really save some time if this step could be done at a prior date. Anybody?? (cept sutt--don't want no pop bottle suggestions lol)
Oh yeah, funny thing that happened the other day. Swirh was dreaming boutputting the liquid off a STE into an old milkjug type container (Dh2O). He forgot where he was and walked into the desert for a bit then when he returned... he found a burple jug! The liquid had eaten thru and melted the jug about halfway. Luckily, he had nuff 4sight to have this sitting in a containment system and no big deal. But just a reminder (to anyone that doesn't know--they soon will hehe) that these type things are pretty plastic hungry and to always be safe.
Oh and Gotta...Swirh thinks that you put the jinx on him! He had heavily utilized quart jars for lower temps and had never broken one--not one and used them quite a bit. Told him about your nano post and cracking the jars (and the yes sir statement to the sound lol) and prob wasn't an hour and the whole bottom of one came loose. Lucky temp was low (as that is what it was used for) and no flash. Couldn't have drove a 16 penny nail in Swirh's ass with a 20lb sledge tho hehe. Does Swirh hear "beakers" calling? Lol.
Hope someone can help me out with the storage dilema. Have a good one guys...

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
ok SWIRH take a large duffle bag the kind with heavy duty grommets... lmfao just kidding man i couldnt resist that. (private joke sorta)
SWIM thinks the nalgene bottles will work for all the things you mentioned. those sort of chemicals are what they are made for. however SWIM does not know if they will work thru experience just that they are made for that and SHOULD work. SWIM does know that the plastic bottles that ruby red grape fruit juice and gatorade comes in stand up well to these. SWIM stored a gallon of dryed acetone in a gallon fruit punch bottle for a couple weeks with no noticable effect other than the center of the bottom and the neck part where the threads are for the cap turned an opaque cloudy color. the tone stayed clear as a bell and reacted normal when SWIM used the tone. if anything was transferred from the plastic to the tone SWIM doesnt know and it didnt make itself noticable. one way to do it is store it in the metal cans it came in after you have prepared them to suit you however they have to be kept indoors where temps stay relativley the same to prevent condensation. where SWIM lives it gets 90 in the day right now and is in the 40`s at night, (a condensation nightmare) so the metal cans if used and stored outdoors need to be filled to the top to prevent condensation. but dont be suprised to find your metal can almost round and under extreme pressure on a very hot day. so i guess if it was SWIM he would store in the clear glass like jugs that gator-aid and ruby red grapefruit juice comes in. fill almost to the very top and store them indoors where temps dont vary much from night to day. if they must be stored outside SWIM would do the same but during the peak of a very hot day would check them several times and bleed off the pressure if the jugs are distorted or seeping. once this is done they should be safe on subsequent hot days. same if using metal cans and stored outdoors. maybe SWIRH should test the nalgene containers with these chems maybe take the lid and flip it upside down and filling the small depression with chem and watch for reaction. SWIM would appreciate if SWIRH would let SWIM know how the nalgene bottles work. i have a link where i can buy them surplus (not used tho) very cheap, 1.75 for a 16 oz nalgene bottle. one more hint and then ill quit boring you to death lol. nalgene bottles are excellent for storing I2 crystals as they are light proof. SWIM also takes a small bit of baked epsom salt crushed to almost powder form, takes two coffee filters and dumps 3 tablespoons or so into center of filters then closes filter around them and ties off the tail with a small ziptie. (when your done it should look kinda like a meteor in shape) drop this in with your I2, RP, processed E etc. it will keep them dry by absorbing moisture especially if these are also stored outdoors. that what looks and feels dry usually isnt at least not to the standards required by SWIM and SWIRH hope this helps. also anyone who finds any flaw in SWIM`s methods and ideas in this post please say so. altho in 20 years of devoloping and using and experimenting these methods seem airtight even if somewhat ghetto. SWIM is forced thru location to improvise and come up with things and ideas in a pinch. SWIM isnt ghetto thru lack of funds or motivation but more cuz of location. SWIM lives so far in the woods he has to pump sunlight in lol almost 100 miles to town ONE way and you know SWIM`s motto: SWIM hates town and town hates SWIM

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
oh and a note on mason jars and why people are misled in there thought that they will work great. sure they are designed to take some pretty intense heat but they are brought to this intense heat in a pressure cooker when canning and thereby heat evenly in the pressure vessel. when heated outside a pressure vessel they are crude and heat very unevenly and usually crack out where the heat transfer becomes uneven hence why the bottoms fall out. jus thought id pass that along. SWIM has been canning all his life, like his daddy and his daddy before him
oh and the info in this and above post are strictly for informational/entertainment purposes only the author of this post nor the owners of this website in any way advocate the use/manufacture of any illicit drugs/explosives we all know big brother loves us and strives to keep us safe from ourselves. (rolls fuckin eyes)

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
Thanks Swiwr...Swirh will do a small test of a smaller version and post what happens. Get kind of old with having to dry small amounts... Swirh was wondering about the lid on the containers tho... Would the liquid not eat that gummy plastic liner? Guess not if SwiWR said that it was fine. Prob not a lot of solv getting on the lid tho... Swirh would like to know somewhat more about the Nalgene site tho... Can get small amounts over a period of time but if there were a surplus site... Swirh would preciate. He is going to do a test of the gene's tho.. and see what eats what lol.

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
Yeah, nalgene is ok for the elixer. Not sure about MEK or acetone, but they should be ok too. Sorry about the jinx. I cringe everytime I heat up some soup in those damn masons now. The best for heat, from my experience is Motts applesauce and Miracle Whip. They have shown tenacity up to 105C with only one exception and that was the MW jar. Pinged one out of four. Even to look at a Motts jar is impressive (if you're inclined to do such a thing). Very evenly drawn. Swigotta said he wants to throw his two cents in.
Milk jugs can hold post reaction basified solutions without event. Sun tea jars with press down spout cannot. His wife came down to visit one day and was looking at the sun tea jug that Swigotta had his back to. "Is this stuff supposed to be running out like that?", she asked him nonchalantly. Needless to say the answer was no. He jumped up like the DEA just hit the door with a battering ram. Screaming, "Fuck, fuck, fuck!!" over and over again, as he scrounged for something to catch the shit in. In hindsight, it was pretty funny. At the time, there was a quiet panic among those within a 5 mile radius. The kind of quiet that says, "Please, please. Don't look at me, don't speak to me, don't kill me." Swigotta has emotional issues.
You hear what I'm sayin'?

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
dont get me wrong SWIM uses mason jars but not for boiling on a hot plate. 105 degrees C is 221 degrees F thats alot to ask from a jar that costs less than a dollar. SWIM wonders if such high temps are needed but doesnt dare question the educated ones untill he experiments for himself. SWIM was kinda waiting to see what SWIGOTTA`s experiments yielded in regards to the temp of 105 C. if this temp is a must SWIM will obtain some 1000 ml boiling flasks and/or beakers and tongs for that purpose. SWIM at this point thinks that a mason directly on a hot plate is askin for a fuck up at any temp setting other than slightly warm. SWIM will remind you guys that when doing the VE-STE extraction method to keep that 5 gallon bucket of wet potting soil handy and stay away from fire extinguishers. take my word for it. SWIM only wants to see you guys safe and speaks from personal experience. SWIM hisself has never had a fire but has a few friends that have and he was present for them. wet potting soil works like you wouldnt believe, a large beach type towel soaking wet hanging nearby is also a plus. a fire extinguisher just spreads the shit out of the problem. not to mention wet soil is cheaper than extinguishers. any better ideas or drawbacks to ones SWIM has outlined are greatly appreciated.

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
Damn, if there were just a few more hours in each day.
I was just looking back through some recent threads and realized that there has been much left unsaid. For this, I apologize. There is just too much going on right now with job, family, and such. I wish I could just write simple answers, but that's not me. I spend an average of 1 hour thinking out a response to one post. I know it makes me sound pretty stupid, but I have to believe what I'm saying or what's the point in saying anything at all.
For all the Str8-2-E'ers out there:
It is not necessary to heat to 105C. As a matter of fact, on larger batches, it makes it sticky as hell and harder to rinse. About 80-90C works great, it just takes longer. 2 or 3 hours on average. Guess what? You don't need to add the xylene either. It will precipitate out of the naptha even better. Then filter, dry and add just enough alcohol (Swigotta said he used denatured ethanol) to get it to dissolve when hot, add a pretty good bit of xylene 10X or more(more is better here, especially with bigger batches, and do the same thing you did with the naptha. When it comes out of the xylene, filter this and it will be damn clean, especially the second filtering. Swigotta insists that vacuum is a must, as well as specialty filter materials. The filter funnels I designed for him make this a walk in the park. Take the xylene crashed crystals and do a worlock dual solvent on them and you will get long, thick, clear crystals that look like the best ice you have ever dreamed of. I have the fuckin notebook, I just can't find the time to do the writeup justice.
This was supposed to read:
No. You don't have to heat to 105C.
You hear what I'm sayin!?

SWIM in no way thinks you are stupid and appreciates the fact that your posts are well thought out and is willing to wait however long it takes. SWIM has the patience of a saint, hell a herd of saints even lol. thanks for the update. SWIM will add it to his file on this new extraction process. all good things come to those who wait

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
gotta, you really are a fagget, Ionce thought
Kings quest 4 was the gayest thing known to man until Kings quest 5 came out. But I have recently updated my gay shit list.
I wish I had a video game text style and click, where gottago was the main character
wandering around the house tripping over childrens tonka toys falling into the bathtub
and shit. opening th freezer wiping condensation from baby food jars and mottsapplesauce. you are definitely not an amphibius type mammal when you are high,
but no offense do you know what phosphor
does to the water in your body dude? you should stop smoking good dope and buy some ozzfest tickets. stay away from me at ANY
yardsale. This by far is one of your prized sayings here at totse.com,
". Sorry about the jinx. I cringe everytime I heat up some soup in those damn masons now. The best for heat, from my experience is Motts applesauce and Miracle Whip. Ok sure 2 cents is fine but dude you are laying out dimes dawg wTF is wrong with you
knight rider? Sloy down Captain Metharica.
and what the fuck does tenacity mean? Tenacity is a word used for peoples good workplace ethic not for commercial glass at 105 degrees. You are like Sherlock Holmes
when it comes to recrystallizing dope fool.

Frog's really got a mouth on him. Ramble Ramble Ramble.
Where's your contribution???
Don't even ask for mine. If you took the time to check out the people you are flaming before actually doing so, you would probably realize that their credentials have long since proved their worth.
Back off.

Re: Tryp, AM, Gotta, Wicked, Pikk, ...anybody that knows?
Crazy man...crazy... Hehe, let's see first things first: Hey Wicked, Swirh somehow <laughing> got to doing about 3 million things at once and did not take the time to read the ummm instructions Swirh guesses you could say that came with the gene. Actually something like a info sheet---what are the odds? Nalgene is (according to this sheet) made of low-density polyethylene and are compatible with tone, ethyl alky, methanol, iso, Dh2o (duh), and sod. hypo. The only thing different is that on the last one the top is made of HDPE instead of LDPE. Anyhow, Swirh is in process of testing out the MEK with a small one and will post that maybe morrow.
Second thing: WTF with the Phrog man? Has he never got in the groove and "went with the flow"? The ghetto methods that SwiGotta mentioned are viable substitutions for the real deal but he did say at the beginning of a thread that one should spring for the good stuff to start with. Little loudmouth Phrog. Isn't it time for the MAOI supplement or sumptin? Drop off the Gotta and back off to a "respectable" distance. Swirh likes the guy and can relate HEAVILY to some of his experiences. Just not too cool with the TexMex MPD schitzo Phrog waylaying Gotta. Like the Lukky said...learn some respect.
Oh yes...Gotta...you said earlier that proper filtration was a must. Swirh would like some filter paper or the equivalent. Would fiberfrax be suitable? Or perhaps in a pinch could several (5+) coffee filters be used? Just trying to see what all could be used ya know? Peace all.

Frog...once again you've outdone yourself. In a matter of a few short days you've gone from a lousy spanish speaking dipshit who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. To....well I dunno, but you deserve a brownie. *clapping* You fall somwhere between Kicking the shit outta that leg on your bed in the middle of the night while barefoot.....and getting your balls cut off with a dull knife. Your a child. A pain in everyone's neck. Switrd often thinks of what it would be like to stomp a mudhole in yer ass. Quite entertaining I would guess. Anyway, we all know that people like gotta, luckky, rainman, and countless others are invauble to those who are not quite blessed as they are....But you frog, are not fit to wipe their asses. So before we do to you as I used to do...to frogs that is. (baseball bat + frogs =) Find a new place, and people demonstrate your ignorance to. Thank You.
